- RIPTIPS!
-
- Okay so here are just a few short tips for using Quickrip and making
- your RIP screens scroll right!
-
- 1. If you are using Quickrip to make a RIP version of all your hello
- screens and you don't already have any true RIP hello screens then
- you only have to convert your first hello screen or prelog screen.
- As long as no other RIP screen is encountered prior to the main menu.
- The other non rip screens will scroll within the text window and border
- created by the first RIP converted hello screen.
- The above assumes you have changed the default RIP version of Prelog.RIP
- that was shipped with 3.9 distribution disks.
-
- 2. If you have not altered any of the RIP screens that were shipped with
- the 3.9 distribution disks then you should only need to run Quickrip
- on your first Hello screen. If you are running the Hostage program
- by Dennis Maidon which makes a RIP hello screen and you have other
- non rip screens after that RIP then you need to use Quickrip on the
- next hello screen after the one Dennis' program creates so you
- re-establish a nice border and text window for your non-rip screens.
- CONFUSED? Well, here are some examples for you.
-
- Example 1. Say I have the default prelog.rip from MSI in my display
- directory but no other hellox.rip screens yet. I do have 4 Hello
- screens that are non-rip though. What I would do would be to run
- Quickrip on the first Hello screen and that's it!
- Example 2. I run a program such as Translator(written by me!) in the login
- bat or I run Hostage and it creates for example a Hello3.rip screen.
- So now I run Quickrip on the Hello1 screens and the Hello4 screens.
- Why? You always need to run it on the Hello1 screen or it will only
- display in that little 2 line text window at the bottom of the
- main menu shipped with 3.9 when a user tries to use the [I] command
- to see the initial logon screens. You need to run Quickrip on your
- hello4 screen because your hello3 was a RIP screen created by
- some other program. If you did not run Quickrip on the hello4, it
- would still display but would not have any border.
-
- Remember...Quickrip can be run on ANY .SCR or .BBS screen and will make a
- exact copy of it with the .RIP extension and a nice RIP border with
- your BBS name centered on top! Run it on your Prelog or Goodbye
- screens too if you don't like the MSI default screens!

- Final TIP: When making a RIP screen with RiPaint. Always save it with the
- NO TEXT WINDOW checked! Just make sure you RE-SIZED a text window somewhere
- if you wanted one on that screen! That way, RiPaint won't just put a small
- default text window in your screen and you won't have text popping up where
- you don't want it to be! See Ya! Joe
