- Frequently asked Q&A
-
-
- Q> The sysop functions don't work. I can't use the functions except for
- viewing files, and validating and listing unvalidated files.
-
- A> It's probably because ANSI.DAT does not exist (ie you have no ANSi's to
- edit). In order for the removing, deleting, and inserting functions to
- work, ANSI.DAT must exist. You must have some descriptions to work
- with. Otherwise, ANSi Art Gallery will ignore your command.
-
-
- Q> As a sysop, where do I add descriptions?
-
- A> Push 'U' in the main menu. You must have an ANSi file with no
- description attached to it. You now have two options. To check for
- files without descriptions, push 'C'. To copy (import) an ANSi into
- the libary, press 'I'.
-
- Unregistered versions: You may only add ANSi's locally. It doesn't
- matter which user you are, just that you are
- local.
-
- Registered versions: If your name is in SYSOP.LST, and matches
- with the door information file's username, you
- will see the "[%] Sysop Functions" string
- appear in the middle right hand side in the main
- menu.
-
-
- Q> Since ANSi Art Gallery supports a feature for the sysop to manually or
- automatically validate ANSi's, when will this feature be used?
-
- A> It applies only in one place, when a user uploads files.
-
-
- Q> What baud rates does ANSi Art Gallery support?
-
- A> ANSi Art Gallery can support baud rates from 50 to 230k baud, although
- the highest any IBM compatible system can produce is 115k baud. The 230k
- was achieved by Rickie Belitz, changing the UART's xtal and using 16550A
- UARTS.
-
-
- Q> Does ANSi Art Gallery support multi-node?
-
- A> Because the door only allows one temporary directory to be used, and there
- has been no file locking inside the code, it MAY not work. I have never
- tested it under multi-node systems, so I cannot be sure. If you are using
- multiple nodes with ANSi Art Gallery, I suggest you that you only allow
- one user at a time to use the door. This should avoid any problems for
- the time being. This should change in future releases.
-
-
- Q> How can I run AAG locally?
-
- A> If you are using DOOR.SYS, make sure that the first line reads COM0:.
- This is an accordance to the DOOR.SYS standard. Some bbs systems do not
- follow this, so the first line may read the communications port that your
- system uses.
