From church music and the intermezzo, it goes on to cover opera, ballet and oratorio. Today we recognise four basic types of orchestra. The small symphony, the string orchestra, the chamber orchestra and the full blown symphony orchestra. This has over 100 members and covers all four types of instrument. would win brass and percussion.
