  1. This file is called DO-NOT-READ-ME in an attempt to get those
  2. who normally ignore README files to read it. Note that over
  3. one third of recent tech support queries have been a result
  4. of users ignoring README's. Please READ ALL of this file.

  6. Persons who want the source code should read ALL of the source
  7. section below.

  9. This directory contains version 3.02 of POV-Ray for Windows.
  10.  
  11. povwin3.exe is a self-installing executable. Just run it from
  12. Windows. There is no need to to put it into a temporary directory.
  13.  
  14. In the 3.02-1/ directory is the same installation as found in the
  15. above povwin3.exe file, but split into parts. MAKE SURE you read
  16. the README file there before downloading !

  18. To run POV-Ray itself, you'll need Win32s if you have Windows 3.1.
  19. Windows 95/NT users don't need this. Win32s is in the file pw1118.exe
  20. in this directory. Get the text file to learn how to install it.

  22. If you have Windows 3.1 and there is a file called 'win32s.ini' in
  23. your windows\system directory, you already have Win32s but it may
  24. be an old version. Read pw1118.txt for more information.

  28. The file povwin_s.zip is an OPTIONAL download ; it contains the
  29. source code for version 3.01 (NOT 3.02) of POV-Ray for Windows.
  30. You do NOT NEED this if you just want to use POV-Ray in the normal
  31. manner.

  33. If you get it, make sure you read the README.NOW file in the archive
  34. if you want to compile your own binary.

  36. The source code is ENTIRELY UNSUPPORTED. Do not write asking for help
  37. with it.
