  15. INTRODUCTION
  16. Eight separate tools comprise HTML PowerTools for Windows. These
  17. are powerful HTML development tools for Windows, for use
  18. alongside your HTML or text editor. They include customizable
  19. offline HTML validation and link checking, HTML-specific spell-
  20. checking, HTML-aware search and replace, site-wide META tag
  21. management, automatic HTML file "last modified date" stamping,
  22. IMG tag automatic width, height, and ALT insertion, HTML to
  23. text batch conversion, and more.

  25. While each tool is separate in purpose, many work together.
  26. They are intended to be used as a 'suite' of utilities to
  27. assist you - the HTML developer. Their primary purpose is
  28. to automate difficult or time-consuming tasks that you are
  29. now doing manually.

  35. INSTALLATION
  36. After unzipping the ZIP file you downloaded, run SETUP.EXE
  37. and follow the on-screen prompts.
  38.  
  39. It is important to close all running applications before
  40. running SETUP.EXE. Conflicts with open files can cause the
  41. installation to fail.
  42.  
  43. It is also important to note that some virus checkers
  44. prevent proper installation and startup of the tools. If
  45. you experience any problems during install or program
  46. startup, be sure to unload your virus checker and try
  47. again.
  48.  
  49. A software license agreement will be displayed on-screen
  50. during setup. Your acceptance of the agreement is required
  51. to install the software. A copy is also included in the
  52. ZIP file you downloaded as license.txt.

  55. UN-INSTALLATION
  56. To remove this application from your system, use Windows 95's
  57. Uninstall facility (Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs). If
  58. you manually delete the program directory before trying this,
  59. Windows will not be able to uninstall the other components.
  60. Sometimes, Windows will not succeed in automatically deleting
  61. all the files from the installation directory, so be prepared
  62. to finish the job manually.

  65. THE LAUNCH PAD
  66. In addition to the actual HTML utilities, Setup installs the
  67. HTML PowerTools Launch Pad. This handy toolbar provides quick
  68. access to each of the tools in the suite from one location.
  69. If you right-click any of the tool icons, you will notice the
  70. Stay on Top option - this will cause the Launch Pad to remain
  71. above all your other windows to make access to the tools even
  72. more convenient.

  75. PROGRAM CHANGES IN THIS RELEASE
  76. * HTML PowerAnalyzer now supports HTML tables and table cells.
  77.   HTML Rulebase Editor supports editing of tag attributes to
  78.   customize how the Analyzer deals with tables and cells.

  80. * Updated HTML Rulebases are included, now supporting MSIE 4,
  81.   Netscape 4, and HTML 4. The new rulebase files load more
  82.   quickly into the tools that use them.

  84. * HTML PowerSpell is now included as part of the suite.

  86. * Various minor bugs have been repaired., and no known bugs
