  107. This package contains Global Security Version 3.10 by TAN$TAAFL(TM)
  108. Software Company. This document contains only a brief description of the
  109. package and its features, along with instructions for its installation.
  110. Quite detailed documentation is included in the package, but it is in
  111. archived form, and is more easily read after installation.
  112.  
  113. If you've ever wished you could have complete security in the
  114. transmission of computer data across town or around the world then
  115. Global Security is the program for you. Encipher any type file, transmit
  116. it, and decipher it at the other end. The data is safe even from the
  117. super computers of the National Security Agency (NSA). Global Security
  118. can compress your files before they are enciphered and decompress them
  119. when they are deciphered. Prepare any file for transmission by any
  120. Electronic Mail (E-Mail) Service using the High Radix 64 File format.
  121. Privacy by mathematical law is now a reality.

  123. Global Security is a shareware program. This evaluation version is a
  124. full featured program, and is not crippled in any way. You may use it
  125. for up to 30 days, without charge (see GS.DOC for more details). If you
  126. like the program, and wish to continue its use after this evaluation
  127. period, you are required to pay for the program (see ORDER.DOC for more
  128. details). Any fee you may have paid to others (disk vendors, dealers,
  129. etc.) to obtain this program was a fee for their copying and
  130. distribution services, rather than a payment for continued use of the
  131. program.

  133. As a registration incentive you will receive the latest versions of
  134. Global Security which includes a 32 bit version optimized for 32 bit
  135. registers. The 32 bit version of Global Security is for 80386 and up
  136. computers. It runs one heck of lot faster than the 16 bit version. The
  137. latest versions include an options menu, a Disk Security section, and
  138. greater printer control. Plus receive two small utilities. One is
  139. NEWCLS.COM, a replacement for the DOS CLS command which allows you to
  140. set any valid combination of screen colors whenever you clear the
  141. screen. The second is GUARDIAN.SYS which guards your computer against
  142. any attack through DOS's backdoor. The registration reminder screen has
  143. been removed from the registered versions and you will be notified by
  144. TAN$TAAFL(TM) Software Company of any major upgrades.

  166. ===== Installation =====================================

  168. The installation procedure for Global Security is very simple. You will
  169. need at least 494K of free disk space to store all of the programs and
  170. documentation files.
  171.  
  172. Use the INSTALL.EXE file to install the Global Security files on any
  173. disk drive. At the DOS prompt type INSTALL followed by a carriage return
  174. if you are logged onto the drive and directory that INSTALL.EXE is in.
  175. Or if you are on the C: drive and INSTALL.EXE is on the A: drive type
  176. A:\INSTALL followed by a carriage return. You do not have to be logged
  177. onto the drive and directory that INSTALL.EXE is in. INSTALL.EXE will
  178. take over and guide you through the installation process.
  179.  
  180. INSTALL.EXE checks itself and all of the programs in the Global Security
  181. Package, except VENDINFO.DIZ, for signs of alteration, tampering, or
  182. infection by a computer virus.
  183.  
  184. INSTALL.EXE allows you to select the files you wish to install. It does
  185. not require you to install all the files and then delete the ones you do
  186. not want.
  187.  
  188. INSTALL.EXE has very sophisticated error detection routines that will
  189. tell you if anything goes wrong during the installation process. While
  190. each file is being transferred the data is verified by reading it back
  191. and comparing it against the original data.
  192.  
  193. During the actual transfer process if any error is detected you will be
  194. informed and installation will be stopped. This will mean that you have
  195. a problem with the source or destination disk that has to be taken care
  196. of before you can continue the installation process.
  197.  
  198. EXECUTING GLOBAL SECURITY
  199.  
  200. Global Security may be executed from either a floppy or hard disk drive.
  201. To minimize loading time it is recommended that Global Security be run
  202. from a hard disk drive. Global Security may be executed from a CD-ROM
  203. Disk but you cannot create the GLOBAL.PRN File that saves screen images
  204. on a CD-ROM Disk.
  205.  
  206. If you desire to execute Global Security from any directory, the
  207. directory name that Global Security resides in must be placed in the
  208. "PATH=" environment variable. Check your DOS manual for more details. If
  209. the Directory is not in the "PATH=" environment variable you will first
  210. have to log on to the required directory with the following DOS Command:
  211. "CD GLOBAL" assuming that "GLOBAL" is the directory name you have the
  212. EXE file in.

  214. The following Command Line Parameters can be entered when executing
  215. Global Security: /B /P /V /T /C /I. For compete details see GS.DOC page

  218. From the DOS Prompt type in GS16 followed by any command line parameters
  219. and press the Enter Key. Global Security will load and be ready to run.

  244. There are not any screen shots available with Global Security at this
  245. time. Global Security has the ability to save screen shots to a disk
  246. file called GLOBAL.PRN. This file is accessable to any text editor that
  247. can handle ASCII files. The screen shots can be edited, or cut and
  248. pasted into other applications.
