  1. A "No Patents on Life" demonstration by Greenpeace supporters in Switzerland. The protest was against patents being allowed for genetically manipulated plants, animals and even parts of human DNA. An attempt to grant legal protection to patents on life forms was rejected by the EU in 1995.
