  4. Welcome to Presto! PageManager for the Windows(TM) environment.
  5. This document contains last-minute product information and updates to
  6. PageManager user documentation, including:

  15. 1. About Installation
  16.  
  17.   - PLEASE REBOOT YOUR SYSTEM AFTER THE INSTALLATION HAS BEEN COMPLETED!
  18.  
  19.   When you reboot the system, the following changes will occur:
  20.  
  21.   - The directory where PageManager is installed will be added to the PATH
  22.     statement in AUTOEXEC.BAT file. For example, if your original PATH
  23.     statement is:
  24.  
  25.                  PATH=C:\DOS;C:\WINDOWS
  26.  
  27.     It will be changed to:
  28.  
  29.                  PATH=C:\PAGEMGR;C:\DOS;C:\WINDOWS
  30.  
  31.   Before modifying the AUTOEXEC.BAT file, the installer will backup this file
  32.   as AUTOEXEC.OLD.

  35. 2. Customizing Applications
  36.  
  37.   - When adding an application to the application bar, you need to specify
  38.     the data format of this application. Then PageManager will use the
  39.     specified format to send data to the application. In order for
  40.     PageManager to send data to application properly, make sure you choose
  41.     the right data format.
  42.  
  43.   - Notes: Dragging and dropping document(s) into applications.
  44.     . PageManager can send multiple pages or documents to E-Mail, FAX, Print
  45.       and Lotus Notes enabling modules.
  46.     . For user setup image applications, PageManager transfers one page
  47.       ata time.
  48.     . For text applications, such as Word, WordPerfect, AmiPro,..., etc,
  49.       PageManager automatically recognizes the page(s) and transfers the results
  50.       to applications.
  51.     . Text documents must be black and white. PageManager will not process
  52.       grayscale documents.
  53.  
  54.   - The following is a compatibility list of applications that tested by UMAX:

  75. 3. Sending Faxes
  76.  
  77.     If you have a fax software such as WinFax, you  can select this fax
  78.   software as the default fax software. PageManager will execute your fax
  79.   software after you drag-and-drop documents to the Fax button.
  80.  
  81.   - Using fax applications(as printer driver)
  82.     You can change the default fax setting using the Fax Setup dialog box.
  83.     a) From the file menu, choose Fax Setup. The Fax Setup dialog box appears.
  84.     b) You will see currently installed fax applications in the Installed Fax
  85.        listbox. Set your preferred fax application as the default fax setting
  86.        by double-clicking on it or selecting it and then clicking the Set As
  87.        Default button.
  88.     c) Click on the Setup button to set the faxing options.
  89.     d) If you cannot find your fax application in the Installed Fax listbox,
  90.        click on the More button. You will be able to see all installed printers
  91.        and fax applications in the Installed Fax and List of Fax and Printers
  92.        listboxes.

  95. 4. Using Electronic Mail
  96.  
  97.   - With PageManager, you can use the most popular e-mail applications,
  98.     cc:Mail and Microsoft Mail.
  99.   - After you drag-and drop documents to the E-Mail button, PageManager will
  100.     ask you to specify the preferred format for transferring. There are three
  101.     file formats:
  102.     . PageManager file(*.PFC) - With the PageManager proprietary format, you can
  103.                  send documents with smaller file sizes. Also, with this format,
  104.                  all annotations and highlight areas will be included as part of
  105.                  the file. The receiver can view files using the PageManager
  106.                  Viewer. Documents displayed in Viewer appear similar to those
  107.                  displayed in PageManager.
  108.     . Uncompressed TIFF(*.TIF) - If the receiver does not have PageManager Viewer,
  109.                  you can send documents with this format. PageManager will write
  110.                  annotation and highlight areas to the transferred image.
  111.                  Uncompressed TIFF images will normally require a lot of disk
  112.                  storage space. For example, a 300-dpi A4-size B/W document will
  113.                  require 1 MByte of disk space to store. A grayscale document of
  114.                  equivalent size will require 8 MBytes of storage space.
  115.     . Text(*.TXT) - If a recognized document exists, you can send the recognized
  116.                  result as a text file.
  117.   - When you receive an e-mail message with attached PageManager files, you can
  118.     display the attached files in the following manner:
  119.     . With Lotus cc:Mail, you can Shift-double-click the attachment to
  120.       automatically run the PageManager Viewer and display the attachment. Or
  121.       choose the attachment, then select Run Item from the Message Menu.
  122.     or
  123.     . Save the attached files using the e-mail Save or Save As command, then
  124.       open the attachment in PageManager Viewer to display it.

  127. 5. About Lotus Notes Enabling Module
  128.  
  129.     In version 1.1 or later, PageManager provides the Lotus Notes enabling
  130.   module. You can send documents to Lotus Notes by the drag-and-drop operation.
  131.   PageManager provides two formats for transferring documents to Lotus
  132.   Notes, one is image files(uncompressed TIFF) and the other is text file.
  133.   When you launch the Notes enabling module, PageManager will ask you to
  134.   send image or text files to Notes. Following are the methods to install
  135.   this module:
  136.  
  137.   - Installing PageManager after Lotus Notes:
  138.     When you install PageManager, the install program will ask you "Do you
  139.     want to install Lotus Notes enabling module?". Press the "Yes" button.
  140.     Then type in the path where Lotus Notes is installed. The install
  141.     program will add the Notes enabling module to PageManager's
  142.     application bar.
  143.  
  144.   - Installing Lotus Notes after PageManager:
  145.     If Lotus Notes is installed after PageManager and you want to add Notes
  146.     enabling module to PageManager, please install PageManager again or do
  147.     the following:
  148.  
  149.     . For the UMXADDIN.INI file in windows directory:
  150.  
  151.       In the [UMXADDIN] section, modify the NotesExeDir entry to indicate
  152.       the directory where Lotus Notes is installed. For example, suppose
  153.       Lotus Notes is installed at H:\, then change the entry to:
  154.  
  155.                 [UMXADDIN]
  156.                 NotesExeDir=H:\
  157.  
  158.     . Add the following statement to the (Notes) section in the NOTES.INI
  159.       file in Windows directory:
  160.  
  161.                 AddInMenus=c:\pagemgr\umxaddin.dll
  162.  
  163.     . In PageManager, choose Preferences from the File menu. The Settings
  164.       dialog box appears. In the applications setting, add UMX2NTS.EXE to
  165.       the application bar.
