  2.                            HINTS AND TIPS

  4. When you start MEN ON WOMEN/WOMEN ON MEN, the first screen that 
  5. will appear is the Quick Start Menu dialog.  Select the "Memo" 
  6. pushbutton.  You'll see it in the lower right hand corner of 
  7. the dialog.  It has the caption "Hints and Tips."  It'll put you 
  8. into the help system and give you a brief summary of useful program 
  9. information.

  13. Quote-A-Day is an optional feature that enables you to start every 
  14. Windows session with a quote or joke.
  15.  
  16. Here's how it works:  Windows has a StartUp group.  Each time Windows 
  17. starts it will automatically run the program(s) in its StartUp group.  
  18. We've added a command switch, "D" for Daily, to MWWM that takes
  19. advantage of this feature.  
  20.  
  21. When you start MWWM with the D command switch, all the opening 
  22. screens are bypassed.  Your quote, selected by Quote-A-Day, will be 
  23. the first thing you see.  When you're done reading it, you can 
  24. select the Exit command to immediately end the program or you can 
  25. take some other action.

  27. All you have to do to activate this feature is copy the program 
  28. icon to your StartUp group, and then add the D command switch to 
  29. the Program Item Properties' Command Line as follows:

  31. Change:       C:\MenWom25\MWWM
  32. To:           C:\MenWom25\MWWM D
  33.  
  34. Detailed instructions are as follows:
  35.  
  36. 1. From Program Manager's Main Menu select Window | Men on Women...
  37. 2. From Program Manager's Main Menu select Window | StartUp.
  38.    (Both groups should now be open on your Desktop.  You may want
  39.     to move one group so you can see both of them.)
  40. 3. Press and hold down <CTRL> while you drag the MWWM icon from
  41.    the Men on Women/Women on Men window to the StartUp window.
  42.    (Notice how the mouse pointer becomes a replica of the MWWM icon.)
  43. 4. When the MWWM icon is in the StartUp group window release both the
  44.    mouse button and the <CTRL> key.
  45. 5. From Program Manager's Main Menu select File | Properties and
  46.    the Program Item Properties dialog appears.
  47. 6. Press the <TAB> key once to move to the "Command Line."
  48. 7. Press the <END> key once to move to the end of the "Command Line."
  49. 8. Press the <SpaceBar> once and then type the letter D.
  50. 9. Click the OK button.

  52. Quote-A-Day should now be enabled.  It'll take effect the very next
  53. time you start Windows.

  57. If you're a new Windows user, we'll just mention that green text
  58. in a Windows' help system designates a hypertext link.  That means that
  59. more, or related, information is available on that subject.  You can
  60. access it by positioning your mouse pointer on the green text and
  61. clicking your left mouse button.
