  8. This is the shareware version of ProKon, the metric conversion util-
  9. ity. ProKon is a 32-bit program and is intended to be run on Windows
  10. 95 or Windows NT.  This package should contain the following files.
  11. If it does not, you do not have the complete package and ProKon may 
  12. not operate properly.  Before installation the shareware version con-
  13. tains the following 10 files:

  15.      SETUP.EXE     -  The installation utility.
  16.      PROKON.HLP    -  The help file for ProKon.
  17.      CALC._LP      -  The help file for the ProKon calculator.
  18.      FILE_ID.DIZ   -  A description file for online services.
  19.      GEOMETRY._LL  -  Compressed program files.
  20.      ELEMENTS._TA  -  Data file for ProKon.
  21.      PROKON._XE    -  More compressed program files.
  22.      REGFORM.TXT   -  The registration form for ProKon.
  23.      SITEREG.TXT   -  The site registration form for ProKon.
  24.      README.1ST    -  The file you are reading now.

  26. After installation the shareware version contains 10 files:

  29.      PROKON.EXE    -  The program itself.
  30.      GEOMETRY.DLL  -  The geometry dynamic link library.
  31.      REGFORM.TXT   -  The registration form in Windows NOTEPAD
  32.                       format.
  33.      SITEREG.TXT   -  The site registration form in Windows 
  34.                       NOTEPAD format.
  35.      PROKON.HLP    -  The help file for ProKon.
  36.      CALC.ELP      -  The help file for the ProKon calculator.

  41. There are two ways to install ProKon.  You can use Windows 95 Explorer
  42. to show the files on the distribution diskette and 'double-click' on 
  43. the SETUP.EXE file or you can use the 'Run' menu item in the 'START' 
  44. menu on the Windows Task Bar.  For the second option, enter the 
  45. path to the SETUP.EXE file in the dialog box in the 'Run' window.  
  46. For example, entering
  47.                          A:\SETUP.EXE
  48.  
  49. would run the installation program if you were installing from the 
  50. "A-Drive". SETUP.EXE will copy the necessary files to your hard drive 
  51. and, if you prefer, SETUP will also create the Program Manager group 
  52. along with the necessary icons to run ProKon.

  54. NOTE: YOU MUST RUN THE SETUP PROGRAM TO INSTALL PROKON PROPERLY!

  56. ProKon is capable of making many different conversions, both to and 
  57. from metric and Imperial (English) as well as to and from many ancient 
  58. and archaic units. ProKon is capable of over 350,000 different conver-
  59. sions.  ProKon also gives the density of over 625 different materials, 
  60. some common and some not so common.  In addition, ProKon contains a 
  61. periodic table of the elements which allows access to pertinent data
  62. on each element and notebooks full of useful geometric formulas and
  63. constants.  ProKon has help available throughout and all conversions
  64. can be copied to the Windows clipboard for pasting to other documents.

  66. There is a Windows 3.1 version of ProKon available.  It's called SICon 
  67. and is available most places that ProKon is available.  Both versions 
  68. are capable of the same conversions.

  70. Remember, ShareWare is software you can try before you buy.  You are 
  71. entitled to evaluate ProKon for a period of sixty days.  If you try 
  72. ProKon and decide you like it, you are asked to pay the author the 
  73. registration fee of $14.95 + $1.50 shipping/handling.  You will 
  74. receive the latest version registered in your name.  The registered 
  75. version does not have the advertisement screens you see in the share-
  76. ware version.
