  19. I donÆt get the Tom Cruise appeal myself. I know thatÆs 
  20. sacrilegious coming from a Yank, after all he is Mr America.
  21.  HeÆs just too pretty, too saccharine and too damn goodie 
  22. goodie. Every time he smiles that toothy grin and wrinkles 
  23. up his nose as if to say ôainÆt I just darlingö it makes me
  24.  wanna yawn. <p>
  25.     Well, Mr America has been cast in yet another 
  26. leading role as Jerry MaGuire, sportÆs agent, in the soon to
  27.  be released in the UK movie of the same name. Jerry MaGuire,
  28.  sleazy sports agent who would risk the health and safety of
  29.  his clients (pro American footballers) for a buck, suddenly finds
  30.  integrity. In an ethereal moment late one evening, with sweat 
  31. dripping from his brow, he types out a mission statement which 
  32. he distributes to his colleagues the following morning. He meets
  33.  with a round of insincere applause from his co-workers for 
  34. having found morality and then gets sacked for having found 
  35. morality.  Oops, now what? He suddenly realises he must go
  36.  independent û heÆll have to take his clients with him so he 
  37. makes a number of desperate phone calls and manages to round up 
  38. the support of almost has-been footballer, played by Cuba Gooding, 
  39. and the support of a lovely, pouty young secretary (donÆt know actressÆ name) 
  40. who, with much drama, quits her job at the firm to follow MaGuire the prophet.<p> 
  41.     A romance with the pouty babe ensues, Cruise and Gooding become
  42.  soul mates and the pouty babe becomes a wife. Without spoiling the plot, 
  43. they all live happily ever after.<p>
  44.     You may think I hated the movie, but I didnÆt. Cuba 
  45. Gooding was brilliant, well worth the $9 ticket at the new Virgin
  46.  ægoogaplexÆ in Times Square, and the soundtrack is jamminÆ. With 
  47. all its sugar and spice and everything nice, it manages to preserve
  48.  the notion of the American dream: the underdog makes good.<p>
  49.     If you like feel-good movies about love, triumph and friendship,
  50.  then Jerry MaGuire is the one for you. If you roll your eyes at
  51.  Hollywood mamby pamby, boy meets girl flicks, then wait for it to
  52.  come out on video.
