- If you like a pub with atmosphere, but don't want noise pollution,
- it's worth hunting out The Quiet Pint, produced by Q publications
- and the Daily Telegraph at around £10. There's something
- rather attractive in the thought of being able to sink into a
- pint and a good conversation without being drowned out by muzak
- and the fruit machine.
-

- There are no maps in The Quiet Pint, leaving
- the pub-finder at the mercy of short but generally comprehensible
- directions. Entries are limited, giving a handful of lines to
- each of the atmosphere and food, and a shorter remark about the
- beer - but if peace is your aim, it's simply enough to know the
- pub is in here. There's a fair amount of overlap with the bigger
- boys (this is about the only guide that really will fit in your
- pocket), but occasionally you'll find a pub that otherwise might
- have been considered a little ordinary, included for its quietness.
