This file provides a quick introduction to FoxFire 13 for Windows, a
wee bit of legal mumbo-jumbo, and installation instructions. It's not
intended to be an exhaustive reference to the game. For instructions
on how to play the game, refer to the help file (FF13.HLP).
Introduction
------------
FoxFire 13 is a solitaire game for the Microsoft Windows operating
environment. It is based on a concept by Todd Svec, and is written
by Randy Rasa. It's a companion piece to the popular DOS solitaire
of the same name. It's easy to learn, but tough to win, and damned
addictive. Give it a go!
FoxFire 13 requires Windows 3.x and VBRUN200.DLL.
How To Install FoxFire 13
-------------------------
There are no special or complicated procedures for installing the game.
The program files can be located in any convenient sub-directory on your
hard disk. The VBX and DLL files may be moved to your Windows SYSTEM
directory if you wish, though it is not required.
To run the program, simply install it into the Program Manager (I'm not
going to explain how to do that here ... it's well-documented in the
Windows manuals and online help). Alternately, the program may be run
from the File Manager by double-clicking on the FF13.EXE file.
Legal stuff
-----------
FoxFire 13 is shareware! It is NOT freeware. It is NOT public domain!
As such, you can play it, copy it, and give it away as you wish. In
fact, you are encouraged to distribute the program to friends,
family, and strangers alike. This includes distribution via
electronic bulletin board systems (BBS), user's groups, and
disk-distribution services. All that we ask is that the package
remains unaltered and complete, consisting of the following files:
FF13.EXE ....... FoxFire 13 executable
FF13.TXT ....... FoxFire 13 quick documentation *
FF13.FRM ....... FoxFire 13 registration form
FF13.HLP ....... FoxFire 13 help file
QCARD.DLL ...... Support Library
THREED.VBX ..... Support library
FF13_1.WAV ..... "Card" sound
FF13_2.WAV ..... "Win" sound
FF13_3.WAV ..... "Lose" sound
FF13_4.WAV ..... "Undo" sound
FF13_5.WAV ..... "Error" sound
BBS.LST ........ List of Support BBS's *
VENDOR.TXT ..... Shareware Distribution Information *
FILE_ID.DIZ .... BBS description file *
All of the files except those marked with an asterisk (*) are required
for proper operation of FoxFire 13. FF13.INI will be created upon
running. WAV files may be deleted if you are not utilizing a sound
card.
Refer to the VENDOR.TXT file for more distribution information.

Registration
------------
FoxFire 13 is shareware. You may freely evaluate it for a reasonable
period (30 days). If you continue to use it beyond the evaluation
period, you need to register it.
Registration is only $10 and gets you the following benefits:
1. The latest version of FoxFire 13 for Windows on the diskette of
your choice (5.25" or 3.50").
2. A registration code good for all future updates of FoxFire 13
for Windows. This code will allow you to convert current and
future shareware versions to registered versions, getting rid of
the opening "reminder" screen in the process.
3. More sounds! Add some variety to the "win" and "lose" sounds
with this pack of extra sound effects.
Let me re-emphasize that the registration code is good for all future
updates of this program. With FoxFire 13, you're not stuck in an
endless cycle of expensive upgrades -- you register once, and that's
it. What this essentially means is: Free Updates!
There are three ways to print a registration form:
1. Select the "Print Registration Form" button from the about box.
2. Open the FF13.FRM file (included with this program) with
Window's Notepad, and print it from there.
3. From the DOS command line type "COPY FF13.FRM PRN".
Once the registration form is printed, simply fill it out (be sure to
select a disk size!) and send it to the address listed on the form,
along with a check, money order, or cash. Expect your disk in about
two to three weeks. All orders are shipped within two weeks of
receipt of order.
Users in Germany and Northern Europe may register thru a registration
service called "Der PD-Profi", which will take care of monitary
conversions and mailing to the United States. Please contact:

How To Contact The Authors:
---------------------------

beginning of this document, or via modem at one of the locations
listed in the BBS.LST file. The main support board is FoxFire BBS.
Un-Installing FoxFire 13
------------------------
If you've decided not to register this program, you can un-install it
by simply removing the program's files from your disk and removing
the FoxFire 13 icon from Program Manager. We'd appreciate your
comments, suggestions, or critisism, and we thank you for giving
FoxFire 13 a chance.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Have fun, and best of luck. We look forward to hearing from you!
