  1.    The requirements of Jigsaw Puzzle are an IBM or 100% 
  2. compatible PC, EGA (128k Video RAM) or VGA monitor, 500K RAM 
  3. and 700K for hard drive.  A hard drive will not be required.

  7.    Welcome to the new, exciting adventure of Jigsaw Puzzle!

  9.    Jigsaw Puzzle is an exciting, artisticaly beautiful, rather
  10. unique computer puzzle.  Because of the way it actualy "cuts" 
  11. the puzzle pieces, the puzzle shapes are extremely realistic. 
  12. You get the feeling that you are actually arranging a puzzle 
  13. on your coffee table, for all the pieces are visible and can 
  14. be arranged easily on the edges of your screen.
  15.    The best part of Jigsaw Puzzle is that you can never lose 
  16. the pieces!  Saving the puzzle in the exact position that you 
  17. leave it in, is as simple as a keystroke or click of the mouse. 
  18. When you decide to return to Jigsaw Puzzle, you do not have to 
  19. fear that the kids got a hold of your "extra" pieces or the cat 
  20. decided to prey on the corner section, or the dog etc. etc.
  21.    Jigsaw Puzzle always keeps your puzzle safe inside your 
  22. computer, just waiting for your next move, in the exact position 
  23. and condition you leave it in!
  24.    For the competitive at heart, Jigsaw Puzzle keeps score based 
  25. on the amount of time it takes to complete a picture and the 
  26. mode you chose to play with.
  27.    There's a Novice, Expert and Master mode. Watch the expression
  28. on your friend's face, when playing in Expert or Master mode, 
  29. change drastically, as successfuly placed pieces begin to drop 
  30. out of the puzzle picture because the puzzle isn't being 
  31. completed quickly enough! Jigsaw Puzzle allows everyone from 
  32. a first time puzzle user, to an advanced puzzle connoisseur, 
  33. to experience hours of puzzle magic and enjoyment!

  35.    Ease-to-use
  36.  
  37.    Jigsaw Puzzle can operate easily with your keyboard or mouse.
  38. At first, the top of your screen will look like this:

  40. Help Start View Sound Restore Exit Novice Pieces

  42.    Help / F1
  43.    This gives you fast and easy information, directly on your 
  44. screen, eliminating the need to open your manual.
  45.  
  46.    Start / F2
  47.    This starts cutting the puzzle picture into the amount of 
  48. pieces you have selected.  After you select Start, your screen 
  49. will look like this:

  51. Help Return View Sound Restore Exit Save Score      Time

  53.    View / F3
  54.    Allows you to choose one of the set of puzzle pictures to 
  55. assemble. Use View to switch back and forth from an incomplete 
  56. puzzle to a complete picture.

  58.    Sound / F4
  59.    Turns ON or OFF the sound of the puzzle. It beeps when a 
  60. piece is assembled to the appropriate position, plays music 
  61. when you successfully complete a puzzle picture and you can 
  62. hear the puzzle pieces being cut and dropped out of the box.

  64.    Restore / F5
  65.    Restores a saved position of a puzzle picture.
  66.  
  67.    Novice/Expert/Master / F6
  68.    Modes that allow you to choose the level of expertise in 
  69. which to play. 
  70.    Novice allows you to arrane the puzzle pieces in a fashion 
  71. similar to conventional puzzle arranged on a coffee table.  You 
  72. would typically pour the pieces out of the puzzle box and 
  73. arrange them neatly on the edges of the table.  Jigsaw Puzzle 
  74. works in the same fashion, as the pieces drop out of the picture 
  75. box allowing you to neatly arrange the unassembled ones around 
  76. the edges of your computer screen.  To assemble the picture 
  77. puzzle, you simple drag them inside the box to the appropriate 
  78. place.
  79.    Expert allows you to arrange the puzzle pieces in the same 
  80. exact fashion as a Novice.  The only clinch to the Expert mode 
  81. is, after you successfully place a puzzle piece in its exact 
  82. spot, should you not complete the puzzle within a "certain" 
  83. amount of time, another successfully placed puzzle piece will 
  84. drop out of the picture box (when you least expect it!).  This 
  85. mode allows for hours of fun, as it takes advantage of the fact 
  86. that you are not playingwith a conventional puzzle, on your 
  87. coffee table!
  88.    Master allows you to arrange the puzzle pieces in the exact 
  89. fashion as Novice and Expert, but... as you've probably guessed 
  90. by now... if you do not complete the puzzle within a "certain" 
  91. amount of time, successfully placed pieces, begin to drop out of 
  92. the picture box (when you least expect it!) faster than Expert 
  93. mode! This mode is great fun, but a word of advise, unless you 
  94. are prepared for lots of fun and laughs do not attempt!

  96.     Pieces / F7
  97.    This allows you to choose the amount of pieces a puzzle picture 
  98. can be cut it, prior to starting the puzzle.  Your choices are as 
  99. follows, 12, 25, 46, 62, 72, 87, 95, 101, 132 and 224.  Since 
  100. Jigsaw Puzzle cuts the pieces very realisticaly, the higher the 
  101. number of cut pieces you select, produces smaller piece sizes. 
  102. The smaller the number of cut pieces you select produces bigger 
  103. piece sizes.  If you select a puzzle picture to be cut into 12 
  104. pieces, your actual pieces will be larger, the image on the piece 
  105. easy to detect and the pieces will drag slower into the box.  The 
  106. larger piece modes (12, 25, 46) are great for younger children who 
  107. may be just starting to learn how to use the computer or puzzles.
  108. If you select 224 pieces, your actual puzzle pieces will be 
  109. smaller, the image on the piece more difficult to detect and the 
  110. pieces will move very quickly when you drag them into the box. 
  111. The smaller piece modes (62, 72, 87, 95, 101, 132, 224) are 
  112. exellent for the puzzle "connoisseur"!
  113.  
  114.    Save / F8
  115.    This allows you to save the current positions of the pieces in 
  116. the puzzle.  If you are in the midst of assemblingthe puzzle and 
  117. can not complete the whole picture at that point, simply use the 
  118. save function.  When you return yo puzzle at a later time or date, 
  119. it will be in the exact arrangement you left it in.

  121.    Other Easy-to-use features

  123.    Exit or Escape
  124.    Allows you to leave the game. You will be prompted by a question 
  125. "Do you want to quit Jigsaw?" Choose from "Yes" or "No".
  126.  
  127.    Tab
  128.    Will pause or continue an action within the puzzle.  When you 
  129. pause, the clock on the top of your screen stpos keeping time, 
  130. thus having no effect on the score you get after successfully 
  131. completing the puzzle picture. The faster you complete a picture, 
  132. the higher score you will get.
  133.  
  134.    Arrows or Left Mouse Button
  135.    Places the pieces accordingly.
  136.  
  137.    Backspase or Right Mouse Button
  138.    Places a puzzle piece from outside the box to the appropriate 
  139. place inside the box. This can be used to give you a "Hint" in 
  140. a more difficult mode.
  141.  
  142.    Clock
  143.    The clock on the top of your screen keeps track of the amount of 
  144. time it takes to complete a picture.  Time effects you score.  The 
  145. less time it takes you to complete a puzzle picture, the higher 
  146. you score is.
  147.  
  148.    Score
  149.    Your score is determined by the amount of time it takes to 
  150. complete a puzzle and the type of mode you choose to play.  If you 
  151. successfully complete a 46 piece puzzle picture in Novice mode in 
  152. 15 minutes, your score will be lower then if you completed a 46 
  153. piece puzzle in Expert or Master modes in the same amount of time. 
  154. If you play against someone, it will keep track of both scores.
