  4. Purpose of this program:
  5.  
  6. Replace the system default fonts in ROM (topaz.8 and topaz.9) by a user
  7. selectable font of the same size, propably the topas.8 and topas.9 in this
  8. archive. (Note the "s" instead of the "z".)

  11. Usage:
  12.  
  13. To replace the topaz.8 font by the font "foo", size 8, insert the following
  14. command to your startup-sequence:
  15.  
  16. ReplaceTopaz foo.8
  17.  
  18. To replace the topaz.9 by the "foo" font size 9, use:
  19.  
  20. ReplaceTopaz foo.9
  21.  
  22. This command swaps the characters of the font "foo" with the char's of the
  23. font "topaz". Hence you get later on the original "topaz" under the name 
  24. of the font it was replaced with. As an example, opening "foo.font" in an 
  25. application after successful installation will yield the system default 
  26. "topaz", and opening "topaz" will give you "foo".

  29. Additional Caveat:
  30.  
  31. The font you replace topaz with MUST have the same dimension, i.e. a replace-
  32. ment for topaz.8 should have a 8x8 container, and a replacement for topaz.9
  33. a 10x9 container. Failing to do so might cause unpredictable results!

  36. Fonts provided in this archive:
  37.  
  38. topas.8 and topas.9 :     Sample replacements for the system topaz fonts.
  39.             They are ALMOST the 1.3 style topaz fonts with serifs
  40.             I prefer, with little changes in the german ü umlaut
  41.             and the german sharp ß for better readability.
  42.  
  43. topas6.8        :    This one isn't useful for the ReplaceTopaz, 
  44.             but provided as a little extra. It is a very readable
  45.             6x8 font useful for Lores-screens.
  46. topaz.5            :    A proportional topaz style font of height 5.
  47.             Very tiny, but as readable as I could make it.
  48.             Also provided as an extra since ReplaceTopaz won't
  49.             work with this one.

  52. Installation:
  53.  
  54. - Copy "ReplaceTopaz" to your C: directory.
  55. - Copy the fonts to the FONTS: drawer if you like them.
  56. - Call "FixFonts" after the font installation.
  57. - Insert the "ReplaceTopaz" command in your startup-Sequence.
