ocr: At the time, Bruce was an llinois native who had moved to Olympia, Washington, (otherwise known as Indie Rock City, USA) to attend Evergreen college. He actually compiled the first Subterran ean Pop for an independent-study class credit. In 1983, after moving tos Seattle, Pavitt also began penning a regular "Sub Pop" column for the music paper The Rocket (later synd dicated) and spinning a "Sub Pop" radio show.
