  4. WinDirUsage is a shareware MS-Windows utility that provides
  5. a graphical display of disk space usage.  This is a
  6. convenient way to identify those directories which are the
  7. biggest disk space consumers.  WinDirUsage uses a pie chart
  8. format and permits the examination of any directory on any
  9. drive.
  10.  
  11. Several new features have been added to WinDirUsage since
  12. V1.3, including a menu bar, printing support, and on-line help.
  13.  
  14. Installation
  15. ============
  16.  
  17. You most likely received your evaluation copy of WinDirUsage as
  18. a .ZIP file.  To install, unpack the .ZIP file into a directory
  19. on your hard disk.  Only WINDRU4.EXE is strictly required to
  20. run WinDirUsage, the other files are not needed after you've
  21. read them and ordered your registered copy.  You may wish to
  22. keep WINDRU4.HLP for future reference.
  23.  
  24. WINDRU4.EXE may be executed using the File|Run... command from
  25. either Program Manager or File Manager.  You may wish to create
  26. an icon in Program Manager for convenient execution.  Note that
  27. you may specify a hard disk to read on the command line, so
  28. WinDirUsage will read the indicated disk instead of the disk it
  29. was executed from.
  30.  
  31. Getting Started
  32. ===============

  34. WinDirUsage initially reads the drive it was executed on.
  35. So if you run WinDirUsage from a floppy disk or another
  36. drive which has no subdirectories, the pie chart will merely
  37. show a circle and 100% of the disk space used by the files 
  38. in the root directory.

  40. WinDirUsage allows you to select any drive on your system.
  41. Click on the down arrow next to the pulldown menu in the
  42. upper left corner to see available drives.  When a drive has 
  43. been selected, WinDirUsage will read the contents of the new 
  44. drive.

  46. For a directory that has subdirectories, WinDirUsage will
  47. show a pie chart that has slices showing the size of each
  48. directory tree.  The list box also shows each directory, 
  49. sorted in order of size, largest listed first.  The smallest 
  50. directories will not be shown in the pie chart but are shown 
  51. in the list box.

  53. You can select a new directory to view in more detail by
  54. either selecting the new directory in the list box, or by
  55. clicking on the corresponding section in the pie chart.

  60. De-Installation
  61. ===============

  63. Should you choose not to keep WinDirUsage, it may be 
  64. de-installed by deleting the files you restored from the
  65. distribution set.  Also, delete any Program Manager groups
  66. and/or icons you may have created.  Finally, delete 
  67. WINDIRU.INI from your Windows directory.  Thats it!

  69. Registration
  70. ============

  72. This is an evaluation copy of WinDirUsage.  You are free to
  73. evaluate WinDirUsage for a period of 30 days after initial
  74. installation, after which time you must register.  Continuing
  75. to use the evaluation copy after the evaluation period is 
  76. over is in violation of U.S. Federal Copyright laws.

  78. The single-license fee for WinDirUsage is $15.00 (U.S.), plus 
  79. $2.50 (U.S.) shipping and handling.  See ORDER-CC.TXT for
  80. information on ordering with a credit card, and ORDER.TXT

  83. When you register WinDirUsage, you will receive:

  85.     - A registered copy of the most recent version of
  86.       WinDirUsage.  Only registered copies of WinDirUsage
  87.       will not always re-read the contents of the drive.

  90.       low-cost upgrades to the next release.  Upgrades 
  91.       are currently $10+$2.50s&h for registered users.
