WWPlus version history
refer to the online help (press F1) for details on any item.
version 1.43 January 1995
-added drag 'n drop capability - drag files from file manager
to the WWPlus window or icon to add them to the queue.
-fixed bug that caused program to crash when attempting to
access a drive that is not available or not ready.
-fixed resource leak that caused a small amount of User Resources
to not be released by the multipurpose icon.
-installation now removes several files from the Windows directory
and places them in a user-defined directory. The only file left
in the Windows directory is WWPSAVR.SCR; necessary to get Windows
to put it in the screen saver list.
-If the screen saver starts and WWPlus is not running, it will
start WWPlus. If something prevents WWPlus from starting an error
message will be generated.
-WWPLUS.INI no longer used - program directly uses .QUE files so
Queue save function and AutoSave queue no longer necessary. There
was a problem under Windows NT and some Windows 3.11 systems when
exiting Windows with WWPlus running and AutoSave on.
-WWPLUS.TIF no longer used to store thumbnails. A .TIF file with
the same name as the queue is stored in the same directory as the
queue; it does not have to be rebuilt when switching between queues.
-added information on photo scanning service, with free scans
for registrants of WWPlus
version 1.421 October 1994
-fixed bug that occurred in version 1.42 causing function
error when using Save Queue As function.
version 1.42 October 1994
-added 'hot corner' support for the screen saver.
-added support for .ICO Windows icon files.
-added batch file conversion menu item.
-made picture editor available without selecting a queue entry first.
-deleting defaults to deleting queue entry only.
-double-clicking queue entry makes that file the wallpaper.
-fixed several problems with the file add and saveas dialogs.
-added tiling option to the add wallpaper dialog.
version 1.411 July 1994
-Fixed bug that caused the screen saver to fail on .RLE files.
version 1.41 June 1994
-Fixed bug that caused timer to not restore properly when
the screen saver exited.
-Made password prompt go away if nothing is entered in 30
seconds.
-Changed multipurpose icon position to percentage of screen
height and width rather than absolute pixel position, so
the icon doesn't get "lost" when screen size is changed.
version 1.402 May 1994
-Fixed bug that caused the program to default to the same
image when Change Wallpaper at Startup was selected along
with Random mode.
version 1.401 May 1994
-Fixed bug that would cause the screen saver to fail if the
user's background was red.
-Some changes made to fix display problems with some screen
resolutions and small fonts.
version 1.4 May 1994
-Added Screen Saver module to turn wallpaper into a screen saver.
-Interface revised to reflect modern icon toolbar design with
3-D look to all screens. More options are now front-panel icons.
-Deleting a file from the queue now prompts to allow deleting
the file from your hard drive.
-Further reduction in program files. Files no longer needed
and which may be deleted if not used by other programs include:
MHRUN300.DLL, MHCM200.VBX, MHCOMD.VBX and CTL3DV2.DLL.
WWPLUS.DLL and MSGBLAST.VBX which were used in recent versions
have been combined into WWPLIBR.VBX, a smaller file.
-Several primary preferences previously kept with each queue are
now global, affecting all queues.
version 1.358 March 1994
-Made multiple selections possible in the ADD file dialog.
-Made the program remember where it was in a sequential file
listing, so the next startup will be in sequence.
-Changed the "Special Change Button" so that it is smaller
and has more functions. Timer can be toggled, wallpaper
changed, wallpaper removed, and program exited, all without
bringing up the main screen.
-Added preference item for Auto Save. When enabled, the
program will not prompt before saving changes to a queue
at program exit and when queues are being changed.
-fixed bug that caused tiled images to sometimes not tile.
-fixed bug that turned timer on when interval was changed.
-Program name officially changed to WWPlus from WinWall Plus
to avoid confusion with other programs called WinWall.
-Fixed bug that caused GPF when trying to save an already
existing JPEG file.
version 1.357 January 1994
-Fixed bug that could cause system crash when using the
"Special Change Wallpaper Icon."
version 1.356 December 1993
-Program no longer uses MUSCLE.VBX and MHSP200.VBX, which may be
removed if not needed by other programs. Added small custom
file WWPLUS.DLL for functions previously derived from MUSCLE.
-Added "Make Current Wallpaper" function to menu on thumbnail
screen. On 256-color displays,Wallpaper colors may be wrong
until the thumbnail or program screen is minimized.
-Preferences menu now a full menu rather than a sub-menu of the
Wallpaper menu.
version 1.355 November 1993
-New CTL3D module included, called CTL3DV2.DLL. The program no
longer uses CTL3D.DLL, which may be removed if no other program
is using it.
-Fixed minor bug introduced in version 1.354 regarding use of
CTL3D module.
version 1.354 November 1993
-Fixed bug that would cause GPF error when exiting the program
by means of the End Program option under the wallpaper menu.
-Removed need for MHTG200.VBX and MHML200.VBX. If a previous
version was installed, these files may be removed from the
Windows\System directory. Since it is possible that another
program might need them, keep a copy.
version 1.353 November 1993
-Added support for JPEG compressed files (.JPG extension).
used only for true color 24-bit files, JPEG is a "lossy"
format. It offers small file size with the tradeoffs being
slow decompression and some loss of detail. See the file
FORMATS.TXT for further information.
-Fixed bug that caused too much memory use when non-BMP formats
are used.
version 1.352 October 1993
-Added Up/Down buttons to move a selection within the wallpaper
queue.
-Added ability to expand/contract file listings to make them
easier to read.
-Added Preference menu item to change wallpaper when program
is started (default does not).
-Added Preference menu new feature: Minimized program icon
may be replaced by a small form that, when clicked, will change
the wallpaper immediately. Pressing the spacebar when the form
has the focus will also cause a wallpaper change. The form can
be placed anywhere on screen, and will remember its location.
-Some improvements in queue handling, including Start New Queue
option. The program now remembers directory for last queue used.
version 1.351 September 1993
-Added Preference menu option to monitor com port and disable
wallpaper changes when active communication is detected.
-version number changes in .001 intervals to increase number
of 1.3 changes possible.
