A cloud that usually forms near cold fronts.
Cold front
The forward edge of a cold air mass.
Evaporation
When water turns from a liquid to a gas at a temperature below boiling.
Stratosphere
The layer of air from about 16km to about 50km above the earth's surface.
Typhoon
A hurricane that forms over the pacific ocean.
Squall line
Thunderstorms that occur along a cold front.
Barometer
An instrument used to measure air pressure.
Precipitation
The condensation of moisture from a vaporous state into rain or snow.
Anemometer
An instrument used to measure wind speed.
Relative humidity
The amount of water vapor in the air relative to the amount that it can hold at A given temperature.
Isobar
Lines on a weather map indicating the same barometric pressure.
Hurricane
A violent tropical storm.
Dew point
The temperature at which water vapor condenses to liquid water.
Cumulonimbus
Storm clouds that bring thunderstorms.
Meteorologist
A person that studies weather and climatic conditions.
Air
The combination of gases which comprise the earth's atmosphere.
Nitrogen
The gas that makes up 78% of the air.
Hydrosphere
The liquid part of the earth.
