FastTrash 1.2 is an application I wrote to overcome the annoyance of having to select "Empty Trash" every time I wanted to delete something. FastTrash 1.2 sits on your desktop patiently waiting for you to throw something out. When you decide it's time to delete a file, drag it onto the FastTrash 1.2 icon (the same way you would put something into the Trash), and it is deleted immediately. This way, you won't need to choose "Empty Trash" ever again! As a speed-saving measure, I have made it so that FastTrash 1.2 stays open once a file has been deleted. That way you don't have to wait long to have files trashed for you.
This utility is especially handy on large monitors (17-inch plus), because a trip to the menu bar on them is quite a long way!
FastTrash 1.2 requires that the "AppleScript" and "Finder Scripting Extension" extensions are installed. (They are part of system 7.5, so if you haven't upgraded yet, now is a great time!)
FastTrash 1.2 also requires 200k of free RAM to run.
Make sure you don't do something silly like delete your Trash can. FastTrash 1.2 is merely a shortcut, not a complete replacement for the Trash. Also, to eject a disk, you need to do it the usual way (drag it into the REAL Trash, or choose "Put Away", etc.).
If you like FastTrash 1.2 and decide to keep it, please send me the $2 registration
fee, or whatever you feel it's worth. :-) In the event that you don't think FastTrash 1.2 is worth that much, just drop me a line, telling me you've seen it.
