  2.            Installation of Magellan

  5. Copy Magellan onto any place of your hard drive.
  6.  
  7. Because Magellan makes files and folders in the same directory of the Magellan
  8. application itself, don't move Magellan out of the Magellan folder.
  9. To open Magellan easily, make Alias of Magellan and put it on your desktop.

  13. To use Index search on MacOS 9.0 or newer system, do the following installation.
  14. Drag & drop Magellan Extractor in the Magellan folder onto your start up System folder.
  15. Magellan Extractor is copied into following destination.

  21. If you using Magellan already, 
  22. please replace Magellan application only.

  26.            Let's start  Magellan!!

  29. The first time you double-click Magellan, splash and Account windows appear. 
  30. Thesetting of your Internet control panel (or Internet Config) is automatically imported
  31. as default Account setting. Make change if necessary, then close the window. (If any
  32. account will not appear, read Account chapter of this manual.)
  33. If you have ever used e-mail software, nothing is imported in the Account setting.
  34. (In this case, read Account chapter of the manual.)
  35. Confer the documentation of your Internet Service Provider for account setting.

  40.            Trouble shooting:

  44. ••  Error occurs at starting up.

  46.               Check the version of Internet Config.
  47.               1.3 or older version is unavailable on Magellan.
  48.                (Because specification of Internet Config has changed.)
  49.               The latest version is 2.02. Please install the newer version.

  55. ••  Mail checking is unavailable.

  57.               Open the Account setting window  and confirm it is right.
  58.               If your mail server is not APOP, confirm the check box of Use APOP is unchecked.

  60.               If you cannot receive e-mail, check the following points.

  62.               Does your internet connectivity works correctly?
  63.               Is your pop server address correct?

  66. ••  Confirm the Account setting is right.

  68.               If you cannot send e-mail, check the following in the same way.
  69.               Does your internet connectivity works correctly ?
  70.               Is your smtp server address correct ?  Please check the items of POPServer, 
  71.               POP account and POP Password.

  74. Please check all upper case and lower case is correct. The account setting is different in each Internet service providers. Confer documentation sent by your Internet Service Provider.
