  7. WHAT'S THE VIDEOJUGGLER?
  8.  
  9. The VideoJuggler is a new type of word processor that lets you quickly 
  10. put "video markers" for Laserdisc video clips right into its text files.  
  11.  
  12. You can access any "marked" video clip on demand by simply double-
  13. clicking to "select" the corresponding marker.  
  14.  
  15. Thus the VideoJuggler provides an easy, do-it-yourself method for 
  16. controlling access to videodisc frames and clips, through informal notes 
  17. that are much more interactively adaptable than traditional multimedia 
  18. control files.
  19.  
  20. Both constant angular velocity (CAV) and constant linear velocity (CLV) 
  21. modes are supported.  You can use VideoJuggler to mark and access single
  22. frames on multimedia discs and clips from your favorite movies.

  25. BASIC SETUP:
  26.  
  27. VideoJuggler V 1.2 runs on Apple Macintosh computers under System 
  28. 6.0.5 (or later versions).  It controls Pioneer Laserdisc player models CLD-
  29. V2400, CLD-V2600, LD-V2200, LD-V4200, LD-V4400 and LD-V8000.  
  30.  
  31. You will need an RS232 control cable (Pioneer part # CC-04) to connect your
  32.  Mac to the Laserdisc player.  This cable can be ordered directly by calling
  33.  Pioneer at (708) 285-4500.
  34.  
  35. Set up your hardware as follows:  Cable your Mac's modem port to the 
  36. Laserdisc player's control input using the CC-04 cable.  Then connect the 
  37. Laserdisc player's video/audio outputs to a TV monitor.
  38.  
  39. To install the VideoJuggler software, just drag the VideoJuggler icon from 
  40. the software distribution disc into a folder on your desktop.
  41.

  43. BASIC OPERATION:
  44.  
  45. 1. Turn on your videodisc player and insert a videodisc.  
  46.  
  47. 2.  Run the VideoJuggler by double-clicking on its icon.  
  48.  
  49. 3.  Use the video controls (the control buttons in the vertical window at the 
  50. left of the screen) to browse your videodisc.  You can PLAY, FAST-FWD, 
  51. PAUSE, etc., by simply clicking the corresponding buttons.
  52.  
  53. 4.  PAUSE at a video frame of interest, and enter some notes about that 
  54. frame.  Then click on the MARK FRAME button in the video control 
  55. window.  You'll see the corresponding frame code instantly appear in 
  56. your notes at the cursor location.

  58. 5.  You can mark a real-time video clip by clicking on the MARK BEGIN 
  59. button at the first frame of the clip. Then play the clip to its end and click 
  60. on the END button.  You'll see a BEGIN-END marker instantly appear in 
  61. your notes at the cursor location.

  63. 6.  Repeat steps 4 and 5 a number of times to build up some notes about 
  64. various video frames and clips on your videodisc.    
  65.  
  66. 7.  You can save and print these notes using pull-down menus similar to 
  67. those of other word processors.  Double-clicking on a saved VideoJuggler 
  68. file will then bring that file back into the VideoJuggler.
  69.  
  70. 8.  But most importantly, you can now easily and instantly access any of 
  71. the "marked" video frames or clips in your VideoJuggler files by simply 
  72. double-clicking to "select" that video for display on your TV monitor.
