1) X10WC Enhancements
- X-Light (Exclusive Bright Light)
and Fade-OFF undocumented CP290
commands added to Direct Command
Pop-up Menu.
- All 16 Brightness Levels now available
with Direct Command Pop-up Menu.
- The Control Box CLOSE menu item
(Alt-F4) now defaults to a normal
program exit (with Save prompts)
- Author Internet E-Mail address
updated.
2) XDCw Changes
- Improved multitasking
- XDCw can now supports an Asynchronous
DDE Mode (can be set using a command
line argument, environment variable,
or DDE Command); this allows multiple
commands to be stacked and executed in
the background.
3) X-10 DDE Demo Application
- Modified to use an automatic DDE link
to better demonstrate the
the asynchronous mode of XDCw.
- ASYNC=ON, ASYNC=OFF commands added
to Combo Box.
B. X10WC Version 1.15 Changes

1) X10WC Changes
- Added Persistent Window Width Startup
Option; this allows the user to set
the width of the Events and Devices
Windows and have these Windows also
startup with the same width.
- Bypassed 'Overwrite Warning' during
batch mode RECYCLE processing (re-
gardless of 'Overwrite Warning'
Startup Option setting).
- Minor colour changes applied.
- Help on Help menu item added to
Help sub-menu.
- API call added to unload X10WC.HLP
if its loaded upon program exit.
- Upgraded the VBCTD3D.VBX for
improved Win 95 Support.
2) Help File Changes
- Added information pertinent to the
X-10 Brighten Command and how to
incrementally brighten an X-10
Lamp Module.
- Updated Internet Sources
C. X10WC Version 1.11 Changes

1) X10WC Changes
- Clear ALL Last Upload Date/Time bits
upon an Event Sort.
- Improved Last Upload Date/Time bit
manipulation validation routines to
bypass decoding attempt when some
bits have been cleared.
2) Help File Changes
- Updated Internet Sources (re:
SimTel Internet addresses)
- Added PsL Registration Information

1) X10WC Changes
- Splash screen modified upon
validation of registration key.
- Minor improvements to screen paint
time for EVENT CHANGE screen.
- ALL Lights ON, Lights OFF, Units OFF
added to Direct Command Pop-up Menu.
- Startup Option added that disables
dimmed unlit LED segments (improves
readabilility with some video adaptor
/monitor combinations)
- Startup Option added to override
the Recycle Log file (allows X10WC
to use the same Log file as X10EC
for those users running both programs).
- Confirm Deletes option now controls
whether an Overwrite Warning is
displayed for X10WC.INI and X10.DAT
overwrite operations.
- More rigorous parsing applied to
X10.DAT file I/O routines to
improve detection of corrupted files.
- Internet information added to Help.
- 3D Custom Control upgraded for
improved compatibility with Windows 95.
2) Installation Program Changes
- UnInstall Utility added.
- Option to view README.WIN added.
- Target directory prompt now includes
drive/sub-directory navigation.
- Program Manager Group prompt now
includes a listbox of existing
group names.
- Option to add X10WC to Startup Group
with /RECYCLE7 command line option
added.
- CommPort Override for X10WC.INI
file added.
- All prompts for information and
installation options are performed
upfront; prior to file extraction
and icon creation a confirmation
prompt has been added.

All X10WC documentation is in the
X10WC.HLP file; launch WINHELP to view.
Unregistered Version
X10WC is distributed as a ZIP'ed archive
containing the following files:
- SETUP.EXE Self-Extracting Install Pgm.
- FILE_ID.DIZ Documentation
- README.WIN Documentation
Registered Version
The X10WC installation diskette contains
the following 3 files:
- SETUP.EXE Self-Extracting Install Pgm.
- README.WIN Documentation
- X10WC.KEY Registration Key
BEFORE YOU ATTEMPT TO INSTALL X10WC
ENSURE THAT THE VISUAL BASIC RUNTIME DLL
(VBRUN300.DLL) RESIDES IN YOUR
WINDOWS\SYSTEM SUBDIRECTORY. THIS FILE
IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE X10WC ZIP'ed
ARCHIVE TO MINIMIZE DOWNLOAD TIME; IT IS
AVAILABLE FROM A VARIETY OF SOURCES
INCLUDING COMPUSERVE.
To install X10WC:
1) UNZIP the X10WC archive to a diskette
or sub-directory of your choice.
2) Start Microsoft WINDOWS 3.1
3) Select the RUN sub-menu item under
the Program Manager File Menu and
run the SETUP.EXE program that was
unZIP'ed in (1).
The SETUP.EXE Program will perform the
following steps:
1) Optionally display the README.WIN file if
it is found on the installation drive.
2) Prompt you for the following
information:
- Backup sub-directory
(Default: C:\BACKUP)
- X10WC sub-directory
(Default: C:\X10WC)
- Windows Program Manager Group Name
(Default: X10WC)
- If X10WC is also to be installed in the
Startup Group with the /RECYCLE7
command line argumente
- If DDE Demo app is to be installed;
and if so; Visual Basic sub-directory
3) Confirm the COMMPORT that your X-10
is attached to and modify your
X10WC.INI file if required.
4) Confirm the installation information
before proceeding.
5) Decompress & Copy the following files:
a) To the WINDOWS subdirectory:
- UNWISE.EXE
b) To the WINDOWS\SYSTEM subdirectory:
- DDEML.DLL
- RK31VB.DLL
- PDQCOMM.DLL
- CMDIALOG.VBX
- LEDDISP.VBX
- MHGLBX.VBX
- MHGMUL.VBX
- MHGTXT.VBX
- TXTWND.VBX
- VBCTL3D.VBX
c) To the X10WC sub-directory:
- X10WC.EXE
- X10WC.HLP
- XDCW.EXE
- XDCw.HLP
- X10.DAT
- DISKETTE.FRM
- README.WIN
- SAMPLES.TXT
Unregistered install only:
- REGISTER.FRM
- REGISTER.CIS
- REGISTER.PSL
Registered install only:
- X10WC.KEY
d) To the X10WC sub-directory:
(if you elected to install the
DDE Sample Application).
- X10DEMO.EXE
- X10DDEMO.FRM
- X10DDEMO.FRX

6) Create the following Program Manager
Items and add them to the Program
Manager Group name you specified.
- X10WC (launches X10WC.EXE)
- XDCw (launches XDCw.EXE)
- X10WC Help (launches WINHELP.EXE)
- XDCw Help (launches WINHELP.EXE)
If you elected to install the DDE sample app:
- X-10 DDE Demo (launches X10DEMO.EXE)
- X-10 DDE VB Source (launches VB.EXE -
(if Visual Basic is installed on your system)
Unregistered install only:
- Registration Form (launches NOTEPAD.EXE)
- CompuServe Registration (launches NOTEPAD.EXE)
- PsL Registration (launches NOTEPAD.EXE)
- Diskette Upgrade (launches NOTEPAD.EXE)
- ReadMe (launches NOTEPAD.EXE)
- Install Log (launches NOTEPAD.EXE)
- UnInstall X10WC (launches UNWISE.EXE)
7) Optionally display the README.WIN file if
it was not found on the installation drive.
NOTE: The installation program will NOT
modify any of the following files:
- AUTOEXEC.BAT
- CONFIG.SYS
- WIN.INI
- SYSTEM.INI
