  3. Welcome to the CATCCjr(tm) DEMO release.
  4.  
  5. This  software  is  distributed  without  any
  6. warranty or support of any kind. All software
  7. is the Copyrighted material of N2CKH.

  9. The seven executable programs contained herein
  10. are:
  11.  
  12. o CATCC.EXE, the main program, DEMO of CATCC,
  13.  
  14. o SETPORTS.EXE, the CATCCjr configuration
  15.   program,
  16.  
  17. o HFYAESU.EXE, a sample H.F. radio control
  18.   program for Yaesu,
  19.  
  20. o TINYVFO.EXE, a sample roll-up H.F. radio
  21.   control program for Yaesu,
  22.  
  23. o KENWOOD.EXE, a sample H.F. radio control
  24.   program for Kenwood,
  25.  
  26. o TINYKNWD.EXE, a sample roll-up H.F. radio
  27.   control program for Kenwood,
  28.  
  29. o ROTOR.EXE, DEMO program for Hy-Gain DCU-1
  30.   rotor control,

  33. These  programs  all demonstrate capabilities
  34. developed for CATCC. These  applications  are
  35. NOT  full featured  programs, just demos. The
  36. exception  is CATCCjr(tm) and  Accu-Rotor(tm)
  37. which have had certain features disabled.

  39. The  information  contained  herein exists to
  40. advertise  the  release of CAT Control Center
  41. software  and its current development status.
  42.  
  43. The  CATCCjr  version is basically a stripped
  44. down  beta  version  of  the  full commercial
  45. version.  It is being made available to allow
  46. potential  users  of CATCC a method to sample
  47. some  of  the  CATCC  features and comment on
  48. the software without obligation to purchase.
  49.  
  50. CATCCjr  is  NOT  a  supported product, it is
  51. not  a  complete  product,  it is only a DEMO
  52. version.  Should  it meet the users needs, it
  53. may be used forever without any registration,
  54. within  the  limits  of  the enclosed License
  55. agreement.  However,  CATCCjr will remain the
  56. copyrighted property of N2CKH.

  60. Pricing for CATCC has been set at $49.95 U.S.
  61. (plus  $10  U.S. for the bound user's manual)
  62. plus  6%  N.J.  state  sales tax (and $7 U.S.
  63. shipping and handling within the U.S. and $15
  64. all other locations). All shipping within the
  65. U.S. will be by U.S. Priority Mail.

  67. A tenative shipping date has been set for the
  68. last  week  of November, 1995. Orders will be
  69. shipped  in the order received. Payments must
  70. be  in  U.S. funds by U.S. bank check or U.S.
  71. Post   Office  money  orders.  Cash  will  be
  72. accepted,   however,   cash  orders  are  NOT
  73. recommended, especially from overseas.

  77. CATCC  is  the  application Amateur Radio has
  78. been waiting for. It provides FULL control as
  79. provided  by  the  equipment  manufacturer of
  80. your  C.A.T.  radio  via the computer. With a
  81. headset/boom  microphone  and  foot switch an
  82. operator  can  literally  keep their hands on
  83. the   keyboard/pointing  device  and  rapidly
  84. work'em/log'em faster than ever.

  86. With  the  DX-Graph,  DX-Filters, Band-Watch,
  87. Accu-Rotor,  AutoMode,  AutoGrab, DX-Calendar
  88. and  DX-Sleuth  your  always  on  top  of the
  89. action and you'll have the latest in logging,
  90. analysis and reporting.

  92. MS-Windows  based, written in Visual Basic, C
  93. and  Visual dbase,  the CAT Control Center is
  94. fully event driven.  It supports eight serial
  95. ports   for  HF  and  VHF  rigs,  Packet  TNC
  96. (DX-Cluster monitoring),  2nd  TNC  for RTTY,
  97. Pactor  etc.,  MM-3  electronic keyer,  Rotor
  98. control and other peripherals. Also supported
  99. are  parallel  printer  ports  (3)  for voice
  100. keyers, antenna switch boxes and others.
  101.  
  102. Basic  operation of CATCC/CATCCjr involves an
  103. H.F.  C.A.T.  transceiver  and VHF Packet TNC
  104. monitor DX spots. As spots are recieved, they
  105. are  displayed in the spot window (1,00 deep)
  106. and made available for selection by the user.
  107. Audible  spot announcements (user option) and
  108. various  DX-Alerting  sound  effects are also
  109. available,  when the user via pointing device
  110. or   keyboard  selects  a  spot,  the  C.A.T.
  111. transceiver  is  place on the spots frequency
  112. (and  optionally mode),  the  spots  call  is
  113. placed  in  the  log  window and depending on
  114. mode  and  option  selected  a  59  or 599 is
  115. placed  in  RST s/r log windows as well. When
  116. worked,  the  user  clicks  on  log,  and all
  117. information, including the actual information
  118. from the H.F. rig (VHF also depending on make
  119. and model of radio) is logged.

  121. This description sounds simple, and it is. It
  122. sounds   like  the  basic  computer/tnc/radio
  123. scenario,  and  it is. But, CATCC has so much
  124. more  going  for it that to try and write any
  125. more  here  does not do the software justice.
  126. It  must be seen and used to fully appreciate
  127. the CATCC user interface and all the software
  128. features not found in any other program.
  129.  
  130. CATCCjr,  the Shareware/DEMO version of CATCC
  131. has  many  of  the features of the commercial
  132. version, it is basically a stripped down beta
  133. version  of  a  recent baseline. Some missing
  134. features  include  the full logging and award
  135. tracking,  only  a  CT  compatiable .RES file
  136. will  be  created.  Also  missing will be the
  137. full  DX-Graph  component,  and DX-Sleuth and
  138. other features that will only be available in
  139. the registered version.

  141. The registered version, CATCC, brings with it
  142. full  logging  and  award tracking capability
  143. supporting  DXCC,  WAS,  WAZ, IOTA, VUCC with
  144. excellent   analysis,   reporting  and  label
  145. printing  capabilities,  as  well as the full
  146. DX-Graph  and  DX-Sleuth  real-time  analysis
  147. tools.  Registration  obviously  entitles the
  148. user  to product support via the Bytewise BBS
  149. and  Internet  e-mail.  Also one FREE upgrade
  150. (postage  and  handling  required), resonably
  151. priced upgrades in the future, the CATCC user
  152. Newsletter and access to the Bytewise BBS.

  154. It  is  planned  to add new features, such as
  155. new   hardware   support  regularly,  and  to
  156. improve and refine CATCC, with upgrades about
  157. every six months or so.
