  3. Welcome  to  the  CATCC  Press  Release  (tm).
  4.  
  5. This  software  is  distributed  without  any
  6. warranty or support of any kind. All software
  7. is the Copyrighted material of N2CKH.
  8.  
  9. The five executable programs contained herein
  10. are HFYAESU and TINYVFO for Yaesu H.F. radios
  11. and  KENWOOD  and  TINYKNWD  for Kenwood H.F.
  12. radios.  Also  included is Accu-Rotor(tm) for
  13. Hy-Gain  DCU-1  Rotor control. These programs
  14. demonstrate  some  capabilities developed for
  15. CATCC.   These   applications  are  NOT  full
  16. featured  programs, just demos. The exception
  17. is  Accu-Rotor(tm)  which  has  been included
  18. with certain features disabled.
  19.  
  20. The  information  contained  herein exists to
  21. advertise  the  release of CAT Control Center
  22. software  and its current development status.
  23.  
  24. The Shareware/Trial version of CATCC is about
  25. to  make its debut. On September 30, 1995 the
  26. CATCCjr  software will be on the ByteWise BBS
  27. for downloading, four files are required, the
  28. names  will be CATCCjr1.ZIP thru CATCCjr4.ZIP
  29. respectfully. Each file must be either placed
  30. on its own disk or all can be unzipped into a
  31. single subdirectory,  installation is via the
  32. CATCC Setup program.

  34. It  will also be uploaded to the ARRL BBS and
  35. other  popular  Amateur Radio BBS systems and
  36. FTP sites.  After the files have successfully
  37. been  transfered  to  all  sites,  a  message
  38. listing all sites will be sent via e-mail.

  40. The  CATCCjr  version is basically a stripped
  41. down  beta  version  of  the  full commercial
  42. version.  It is being made available to allow
  43. potential  users  of CATCC a method to sample
  44. some  of  the  latest features and comment on
  45. the software prior to purchase.

  47. CATCCjr  is  NOT  a  supported product, it is
  48. not  a  complete  product, it is only a trial
  49. version.  Should  it meet the users needs, it
  50. may be used forever without any registration.
  51. However,  CATCCjr will remain the copyrighted
  52. property of N2CKH.

  56. Pricing for CATCC has been set at $49.95 U.S.
  57. (plus  $10  U.S. for the bound user's manual)
  58. plus  6%  N.J.  state  sales tax (and $7 U.S.
  59. shipping and handling within the U.S. and $15
  60. all other locations). All shipping within the
  61. U.S. will be by U.S. Priority Mail.

  63. A tenative shipping date has been set for the
  64. first  week of November, 1995. Orders will be
  65. shipped  in the order received. Payments must
  66. be  in  U.S. funds by U.S. bank check or U.S.
  67. Post   Office  money  orders.  Cash  will  be
  68. accepted,   however,   cash  orders  are  NOT
  69. recommended, especially from overseas.

  73. CATCC  is  the  application Amateur Radio has
  74. been waiting for. It provides FULL control as
  75. provided  by  the  equipment  manufacturer of
  76. your  C.A.T.  radio  via the computer. With a
  77. headset/boom  microphone  and  foot switch an
  78. operator  can  literally  keep their hands on
  79. the   keyboard/pointing  device  and  rapidly
  80. work'em/log'em faster than ever.

  82. With  the  DX-Graph,  DX-Filters, Band-Watch,
  83. Accu-Rotor,  AutoMode,  AutoGrab, DX-Calendar
  84. and  DX-Sleuth  your  always  on  top  of the
  85. action and you'll have the latest in logging,
  86. analysis and reporting.

  88. MS-Windows  based, written in Visual Basic, C
  89. and  Visual dbase,  the CAT Control Center is
  90. fully event driven.  It supports eight serial
  91. ports   for  HF  and  VHF  rigs,  Packet  TNC
  92. (DX-Cluster monitoring),  2nd  TNC  for RTTY,
  93. Pactor  etc.,  MM-3  electronic keyer,  Rotor
  94. control and other peripherals. Also supported
  95. are  parallel  printer  ports  (3)  for voice
  96. keyers, antenna switch boxes and others.

  98. Basic  operation of CATCC/CATCCjr involves an
  99. H.F.  C.A.T.  transceiver  and VHF Packet TNC
  100. monitor DX spots. As spots are recieved, they
  101. are  displayed in the spot window (1,00 deep)
  102. and made available for selection by the user.
  103. Audible  spot announcements (user option) and
  104. various  DX-Alerting  sound  effects are also
  105. available,  when the user via pointing device
  106. or   keyboard  selects  a  spot,  the  C.A.T.
  107. transceiver  is  place on the spots frequency
  108. (and  optionally mode),  the  spots  call  is
  109. placed  in  the  log  window and depending on
  110. mode  and  option  selected  a  59  or 599 is
  111. placed  in  RST s/r log windows as well. When
  112. worked,  the  user  clicks  on  log,  and all
  113. information, including the actual information
  114. from the H.F. rig (VHF also depending on make
  115. and model of radio) is logged.

  117. This description sounds simple, and it is. It
  118. sounds   like  the  basic  computer/tnc/radio
  119. scenario,  and  it is. But, CATCC has so much
  120. more  going  for it that to try and write any
  121. more  here  does not do the software justice.
  122. It  must be seen and used to fully appreciate
  123. the CATCC user interface and all the software
  124. features not found in any other program.

  126. The  CATCC_PR.ZIP file which is available for
  127. downloading  from  the  Bytewise BBS  and the
  128. ARRL  BBS has additional information and .BMP
  129. files of captured actual screen displays that
  130. provide   more  of  a  feel  for  the  actual
  131. software in operation.

  133. Currently  supported  are  Yaesu radios, with
  134. Kenwood  support  being  integrated.   Sample
  135. Kenwood control programs have been written as
  136. of  this  date, but not fully integrated into
  137. CATCC.  Planned  is support of ICOM, Ten-Tec,
  138. JRC and SGC radios as well.

  140. The  Shareware/Trial  version  of  CATCC, the
  141. CATCCjr   version,  will  have  many  of  the
  142. features  of  the full commercial version, it
  143. is  basically a stripped down beta version of
  144. the  latest  commercial  version. The missing
  145. features  will include full logging and award
  146. tracking,  only  a  CT compatiable .RES files
  147. will  be  created.  Also  missing will be the
  148. full  DX-Graph  component,  and DX-Sleuth and
  149. other features that will only be available in
  150. the registered version.

  152. The registered version, CATCC, brings with it
  153. full  logging  and  award tracking capability
  154. supporting  DXCC,  WAS,  WAZ, IOTA, VUCC with
  155. excellent   analysis,   reporting  and  label
  156. printing  capabilities,  as  well as the full
  157. DX-Graph  and  DX-Sleuth  real-time  analysis
  158. tools.  Registration  obviously  entitles the
  159. user  to product support via the Bytewise BBS
  160. and  Internet  e-mail.  Also one FREE upgrade
  161. (postage  and  handling  required), resonably
  162. priced upgrades in the future, the CATCC user
  163. Newsletter and access to the Bytewise BBS.

  165. It  is  planned  to add new features, such as
  166. new   hardware   support  regularly,  and  to
  167. improve and refine CATCC, with upgrades about
  168. every six months or so.
