  7. Overview
  8.     Identify is a simple utility which provides an Amateur Radio 
  9.     Identification reminder via your PC running Microsoft Windows 3.1  
  10.     The program actually speaks using Wave files via a sound card or 
  11.     via the PC speaker with the drivers provided in the SPEAK.EXE 
  12.     archive file found in the same library where you obtained this 
  13.     program.  You can select the wave file and the duration of the 
  14.     identification reminder at any time.  Every x number of  minutes, 
  15.     the Identify program will remind you to identify and then reset 
  16.     itself for another go around.  
  17.     Identify is distributed via the Shareware concept.  Please give as 
  18.     many copies of this Shareware version away as you like providing 
  19.     you distribute the original ID112.EXE file.

  21. Installation
  22.     If you have made it far enough to read this file, then you were 
  23.     successful at extracting the programs from the distribution file.  
  24.     One of the files, BWCC.DLL must be copied to your WINDOWS\SYSTEM 
  25.     directory.  This file is copyrighted by Borland International, Inc. 
  26.     1993, 1994 and is used to display "fancier" screens.
  27.     If you already have a sound card installed in your PC and you can 
  28.     play Wave files, then the majority of the install process is 
  29.     complete.  If you do not, then you must first install the sound 
  30.     card and drivers or install the sound drivers contained in the 
  31.     SPEAK.EXE file mentioned above.  You can test the successful 
  32.     installation of the sound driver by selecting the "Sound Recorder" 
  33.     from the Accessories group provided with Microsoft Windows 3.1.
  34.     Installation of the actual Identify program is accomplished by 
  35.     simply copying the IDENTIFY.EXE file to whichever directory you 
  36.     wish to run it from and issuing the "File" and "Run" from the 
  37.     Windows Program Manager.  You can also make an easier access 
  38.     startup by starting up your Windows File Manager and "Dragging" 
  39.     the IDENTIFY.EXE file over to one of your program groups in your 
  40.     Program Manager.  When you do this, you will see the "ID" icon in 
  41.     your Program Manager.  Double click on the "ID" icon and you will 
  42.     see the "About Identify" box displayed on the screen.  Click on OK 
  43.     and you will be presented with the main program window.  Click on 
  44.     "File" and "Select .WAV file".  A dialog box will appear allowing 
  45.     you to select the Wave file you would like to have Identify use.  
  46.     Once selected, every 10 minutes this Wave file will be played 
  47.     reminding you to Identify.  The duration between identification 
  48.     reminders is changed by selecting the "File", and "Set Timer 
  49.     Duration."  These are the only two configuration options in the 
  50.     current version of Identify.  The configuration options are saved 
  51.     in your Windows directory in a file called "IDENTIFY.INI" and will 
  52.     be reloaded each time you start "Identify."
  53.     That is all there is to it.  A very simple but useful tool for use 
  54.     around the ham shack.  I have had many additional ideas from various 
  55.     hams around the country that I will be incorporating into future 
  56.     versions of the software.
  57.     Also included in the ID112.EXE archive are Wave files that 
  58.     specifically remind you to "Please Identify."
  59.     As mentioned earlier, this software is distributed as Shareware.  
  60.     If you find this program useful and would like to be notified of 
  61.     new versions of the program when they are available please register 
  62.     the software.  You will receive a "key" to turn off the initial and 
  63.     termination "About Box."  The fee is only 5 dollars and includes the 
  64.     next release of the software mailed to your location.  If this is 
  65.     too much, then at least send a post card so I can see how many people 
  66.     find this program useful in their shack.
