  4. have been renamed with (_) for ISO-9660 CD-ROM compatability.  Please run
  5. FIX.BAT if you experiance difficulty running the .WAV files.

  7. NOTE:
  8. The top line of this document should contain Cyrillic characters.  If the 
  9. first line of this document reads "Introduction to Heccrbq Htgtnbnjh" then 
  10. you do not have the Cyrillic TrueType font installed on your computer. This 
  11. font is is included with the program, but  currently this installation must 
  12. be done manually. Refer to the section titled "Installing the Cyrillic 
  13. TrueType font.

  15. What is RussianTutor?
  16. RussianTutor is a shareware program for Windows 3.1 that teaches the basics 
  17. of the Russian language.  It is not a "phrase" program, but instead focuses 
  18. on the basic skills that are necessary for a solid foundation for further 
  19. study.  These skills are not attained through memorization of words and 
  20. phrases, but instead through the careful study of sounds, inflection, and 
  21. pronunciation differences.

  23. RussianTutor includes such features as:
  24.  
  25.        Seven lessons covering the basics of the Russian language, each with 
  26. digitized recording of a native Russian speaker.
  27.  
  28.        Use of  Media Control Interface (MCI) for all multimedia functions.  
  29. This allows for use of any multimedia hardware that is MCI-compatible.
  30.  
  31.        Recording of students' voices.  The student can compare his or her 
  32.        voice with that of the recordings.
  33.  
  34.        Easy-to-use graphical interface.
  35.  
  36. You will need ToolBook V1.53 or above to run RussianTutor.  The runtime 
  37. version of ToolBook, including the Multimedia extensions, is distributed 
  38. with RussianTutor.  Contact Asymetrix at (206) 637-1600 or their BBS at (206) 451-1173 for more information about ToolBook authoring software.

  40. A Note About Shareware
  41. This program is being distributed as shareware, meaning you should pay for it 
  42. if you find it useful.  Taken from another angle, if you don't pay for it, 
  43. then you did not find it useful, and should not be using it.  You are free 
  44. to copy and distribute as you like, as long as you don't profit from this 
  45. distribution.  This includes distribution on any shareware CD-ROM samplers.

  47. Because this is not a thoroughly-tested commercial product, there are likely 
  48. to be bugs.  There are no guarantees or warranties, period.  If you do find 
  49. any bugs, please contact me.  If you include the shareware fee, I will be 
  50. more likely to fix the bugs, and to produce more lessons.

  52. To licence RussianTutor, all you need to do is send $25.00 to Atomic Software.  
  53. For this fee you will get the rest of the WAV files (over 2.4 Mb) on diskette, 
  54. thus giving you access to all the lessons.
