FreeGEM by kellis 1998.
This program can run as PRG or ACC, doesn't make a difference.
3 RSC files are included: freegem.rsc (english, default one)
freegemd.rsc (german)
freegemf.rsc (french)
A decent AES version is needed to run this program.
Now, what does it do?
FreeGEM allows you to monitor your RAM useage in real time
with a neat interface. It supports STRAM and TTRAM.
The indicators (leds) represent a percentage.
So: XX........ (with X being lit and . NOT lit) would mean
20% of the total RAM is used.
FreeGEM will refresh every 50ms.
If you click on the Info icon (on the right, blue icon), the
window will get a little bigger showing some extra indications.
Such as: red box (ttram left) (will only appear if you have TTRAM)
blue box(stram left)
% box, (real % used)
The RAM left is actually the largest free block (STram or TTram).
If you click on any of the LEDS, the window will lose its widgets.
Clicking again here, will make them appear again. the use is that
You place the window wherever you want on yoru desktop, then remove
the widgets. So it looks neater and takes less space.
If you have a decent AES, You can win-shade the window by clicking
on the FULLER button. The window will then disappear, only the
widgets will stay, and NO checking is done. So requires less CPU
time. Good for idling.
If you RIGHT mouse click on the INFO icon, you have the credits.
If you press CTRL q, or ENTER/RETURN key, the window will be closed
(if acc), or FREEGEM will just quit.
FreeGEM will look different depending your resolution (colors)
Just try it with mono, 16 col and 256 col. (will be different).
Bug reports: well 1 configuration with a TT, TTRAM and a special
graphic card, FREEGEM didn't see the TTRAM.
Nova graphic cards are well supported. Very strange bug. I am
waiting for more info all about that.
FreeGEM doesn't need a multitasking OS. However it does need a
decent AES version (aes 4.1 and up).
On my falcon SINGLETASKING but with aes 4.1 loaded. it works perfect.
The real use of this program is when you use a multitasking OS
such as MiNT. (or magic). You can easily monitor what's going on.
FreeGEM is freeware, and doesn't guarantee anything to your data,
hardware etc. You take the risk.
