  1. NN_Tweak

  3. NN_TWEAK.PRG and NN_TWEAK.RSC should be placed in the same 
  4. folder as NameNet.
  5.  
  6. Follow the on-screen instructions and you can change some of 
  7. the defaults not alterable within NameNet. It will modify an 
  8. existing NAMENET.DAT file or create one if it does not exist.
  9.  
  10. COLOUR SCREEN
  11.  
  12. The colour palette can only be changed while in colour mode.
  13.  
  14. On an ST there are only 8 levels to choose from for each 
  15. colour. They are shown as:

  19. 0 is off 7 is brightest.

  21. On an STE or TT there are 16 levels. For technical reasons they 
  22. are shown as

  30. NOTE If you are altering a NAMENET.DAT file produced by early  
  31. unregistered versions of NameNet (NameNet 3 and earlier) and it contains 
  32. your Mercury PIN then this will have to be re-entered from within NameNet. 
  33. This is because these un-registered versions did not encrypt your PIN.

  35. The NAMENET.DAT file generated by this program will not be 
  36. fully useable when NameNet is run without a registered key file.
  37.  
  38. The NAMENET.DAT file has a variable which controls modem response times. 
  39. NN_TWEAK can be used to set this. You have a choice or NORMAL, SLOW, LONG. 
  40. You should not change this unless you are having a problem with your 
  41. modem. This should only occur with old modems operation at 300 baud in 
  42. pulse dial modes. SLOW should be sufficient. The symptom is that the PICK 
  43. UP PHONE NOW message appears before the modem has completed dialling.

  45. Another symptom with slow pulse dial modems, particularly with 
  46. modern digital exchanges, can be that although it pulse dials 
  47. you do not get any ringing tone. The solution may well be to 
  48. add a comma to the end of the dialling string.

  50. Please note that you need to set the baud rate using your 
  51. normal software (Atari control panel, Emulator, Harlekin etc).

  53. When run with an old NAMENET.DAT file created by an earlier version of 
  54. NN_TWEAK or NameNet you may get a list of missing items. This is perfectly 
  55. normal. Once the new .DAT file is saved these messages will disappear.

  58. The NameNet Accessory
  59. The NameNet Accessory allows NameNet data files to be accessed 
  60. while running other programs. This accessory uses additional 
  61. index files that can be generated by versions of NameNet 2.800 
  62. or later. This facility can be switched on using NN_Tweaks. 
  63. Normally NN will detect the presence of the accessory and enable 
  64. this automatically. However if you are using an accessory 
  65. switcher like Chameleon NN_tweak may have to be used. This has 
  66. to be switched on so that NameNet ACCess's index files are 
  67. updated every time the data file is changed.

  69. Flush Keyboard
  70.  
  71. Because of the Atari's keyboard auto-repeat it can be an advantage to 
  72. "flush" the keyboard when return is pressed when the main screen is 
  73. being viewed.

  75. NN_Tweak allows you to select whether this flushing takes place. If it 
  76. does you can choose whether it happens before or after the link windows 
  77. are displayed. (This is only important when using large files)
