Level Designer Instructions :
The level designer has been designed as
a quick method of producing levels for
Painter. It does contain some unwanted
features (bugs)!! However, it does the
job generally. If it does not work on
your computer, please tell us what sort
of machine you are running on.
Onto the designer itself, it is a menu
driven affair and should be fairly easy
to follow.
The options : Top Menu
Name - Allows you to assign the level
name.
Passwd - Assign up to 8 characters as
a password.
The 4 score boxes are quick ways of
assigning a new score value to be
used next.
The 4 time boxes are quick single
click options instead of typing the
time by hand.
The Options : Bottom Menu
first line :
Quit - Quit program
Score - Change box score to be used
Time - Change level time
Snap - Force lines to be 8 pixels
apart.
Grid - Show a background grid which
allows easier level building
second line :
Load - Load or Append levels
Nasty - Position nasty on screen
Delnas - Delete nasty from screen
No. of nasties on screen
Type of nasty selected (not used)
You - position player on screen
third line :

Delbox - Delete box from screen
No. of Boxes on screen (max 39)
Hide - used in conjuction with box
Now draw hidden boxes

Level number
Next - Move forward 1 level
Prev - Move backwards 1 level
Clear - Clear whole level
DO NOT USE THIS OPTION UNLESS
YOU ARE DELETING THE LAST
LEVEL
Setbox - Change box score
Other things you need to know are :
When drawing boxes, any new box being
drawn MUST join onto an existing box.
Each level must have at least 1 nasty.
Each level must have a player positioned
The right mousebutton toggles between
menu and design screen.
You CANNOT EDIT the LEVELS.LVL file.
otherwise you could find out all of the
passwords... can't have that!!
I have provided the DEMO_VER.LVL file as
an example to play with.
If you design what you consider to be
decent levels. Please send some in, as I
may distribute them later.
Any queries to the usual address,
Thanks,
Gordon Gibson
