  21. GENERAL:
  22. This software is comprised of various games typically played in Las Vegas:
  23. Black Jack, Video Poker, Baccarat, Five-Card Draw, Pai Gao Poker.  Each game
  24. assumes that you, as the Player, are betting against the House.  The House
  25. plays according to the table rules in Las Vegas.  This is a great game for
  26. honing your card playing skills before venturing out to the professional tables
  27. of Las Vegas!

  30. INSTALLATION:
  31. After decompressing VEGAS.ZIP you should have the following files:
  32.    Status.DLL
  33.    VBCards.DLL
  34.    ThreeD.VBX
  35.    Vegas.EXE
  36.    Read.ME (This File)
  37.    Order.FRM
  38. Copy Status.DLL, VBCards.DLL, and ThreeD.VBX to either c:\windows\ or
  39. to c:\windows\system\.
  40. This program was written with Microsoft's Visual Basic and requires the
  41. VBRUN100.DLL file which should also be located in your Windows Directory
  42. (if you don't have this file you can download it from the MSBASIC forum
  43. on CompuServe).  You should now be able to run Vegas.exe.

  46. BLACKJACK RULES:
  47. BlackJack is the only game which is fully-functional with this evaluation
  48. copy.  The playing rules are as follows:
  49. The game uses 4-decks.  The House always deals, but before each deal you are
  50. required to place a bet.  Betting follows the Drag-and-Drop process.  The
  51. betting chips are available in the lower right-hand area of the table.  They
  52. range in amounts of $2, 5, 10, 25, and 50.  To place your bet Drag a chip to
  53. the Wager Box and Drop it.  To reduce your bet, Drag the Wager icon and Drop
  54. it over the Chip that you would like to reduce your wager by.  Cards are dealt
  55. one at a time, starting with your hand.  Both of your cards are dealt face up,
  56. but the Dealer's cards are dealt first card up, second card down.  If you are
  57. unfamiliar with the game of BlackJack, the object is to hold two or more cards
  58. that total 21 or as close to 21 as possible without going over.  The Ace can
  59. be played as either 1 or 11, the King, Queen, Jack, and Ten cards are all 10
  60. points; any other card is worth it's number.  An Ace  and face card or ten in
  61. the first two cards are called a natural, or BlackJack.  Once the cards have
  62. been dealt you may either Hold on your cards or Take a Hit (receive another
  63. card).  If you go over 21 you have "busted" and immediately lose your bet.  You
  64. may hold at any time.  Once you Hold, the Dealers cards are played out.  The
  65. Dealer MUST take a card on 16 and below and MUST hold when his total reaches
  66. 17 or above.  If the Dealer busts and you have not, you win.  If the Dealer's
  67. total matches your total and neither of you has exceeded 21, it is a "push" -
  68. noone wins.  If both of you have not exceeded 21, the highest hand wins.  A
  69. natural, or BlackJack, pays twice the bet.  If you have 21 or less in five
  70. cards, your bet is doubled.  If you have 21 or less in six cards, your bet is
  71. tripled.
  72. Your total winnings (or losses) are automatically kept for you in the
  73. right-hand side of the status line.  This option may be turned off from the
  74. menu-bar.  A "Hint" will also be given to you on the status line (this also
  75. may be turned off).  This hint follows one of the popular strategies employed
  76. in the game of 21 to increase your chance of winning (This strategy is further
  77. explained in the fully functional version of this program along with all Help
  78. features).
