YOWZIE
(C) 1993 David & Phillip Eastham
The main menu has 'hotkeys'
Explanation of menu options:
B Toggle score check bell. Only visible when you have score
checking activated.
C Toggle score checking.
H This help file.
P Play a game of YowZie. Can also just press <RETURN>.
S View the score board.
T Toggle IBM graphics.
Q Quit the game and return to the BBS.
The aim of YOWZIE is to get as high a score as possible. You do this
by rolling 5 die and scoring in 1 of 13 positions. The 13 positions are:
One's The total number of die with that value.
|
to eg: You end up with the die 2,4,3,2,1. You would
| be able to score in Two's and score 4 (2 x 2).
Six's You could also score in Four's and score 4 (1 x 4).
You could also score in Six's and score 0 (0 x 6).
Small Total The sum of the scores 1 to 6.
Bonus Worth 35 if your small total is greater than 63
3 of a kind If you get 3 of any one die, this is worth the total
of all your 5 die added together.
4 of a kind If you get 4 of any one die, this is worth the total
of all your 5 die added together.
Full House When you have 3 of one die and 2 of another. Worth 25
Small Strait When you have 4 die in assending order. Worth 30
Large Strait When you have 5 die in assending order. Worth 40
YOWZIE When you have 5 die all the same. Worth 50
Chance The total of all your 5 die
You can only score in each position once. You are allowed to have up
to 2 rolls. By pressing the numbers corresponding to the die which you
wish to discard, those die will be re-rolled. You can enter up to 5 die
numbers. This means that you can roll 1 die 5 times by entering its
number 5 times. ie, entering the numbers 13322 will roll die 1 once, and
dice 3 and 2 twice.
If you get a die combination you want to keep before you have had your
2 rolls, you may either press the letter s followed by <RETURN>, or by
pressing the <RETURN> key, you roll no die.
After your 2 rolls, you MUST score somewhere.
In this version, you may now select score checking. This function is
always accessed when you are asked to score as it is sometimes difficult
to see exactly what you have.
ANSI screen codes are initiated depending on your general BBS options.
These allow for a greatly enhanced game speed, especially for 300/1200
baud callers. Most modern computers can handle these codes, however, some
can not. You DO NOT need to have your ANSI colors active to take
advantage of these codes, allowing mono users to have even faster updates.
These codes will also work on most vt-100 terminals as well.
You may quit back to the main menu during the rolling option by
pressing q <RETURN>
If, for some reason, the playing screen becomes corrupted, pressing 'r'
<RETURN> will re-draw the game screen.
Should you wish to get out of the program quickly, pressint CTRL-C at
any input prompt will immediately exit the program and return you to the
BBS.
I hope you enjoy playing YowZie.
