  7. This is a standalone BBS program to play a Role Playing Game.  It is a very
  8. addicting game to those people who are familiar with D&D style of play.
  9. User interaction, mixed with intelligent computer opponents, makes this BBS
  10. unique and popular to call.  Everyone gets tired of message bases,
  11. networks, nodes, file uploads & downloads.  Most people want fun from their
  12. computers.  Why not play games with other people?  Let your keyboard be
  13. your joystick and your modem be your game cartridge!  Go kill a monster or
  14. another user.  Joust for gold and glory.  Rob another user.  Pick pockets
  15. in the Square.  Buy a naval warship and hunt sea monsters or sink another
  16. user's ship.  Create a gang of users to party against another gang or the
  17. fearful Monster Mash.  Drop into a dungeon and explore your way to
  18. adventure.  Or, drink beer in the Tavern and start a brawl amongst the
  19. other players.  Sure, there is even E-mail and a message base for
  20. communicating and posting, but the real fun is beating up players, taking
  21. their possessions, and hoarding gold!  This demo version is fully playable.
  22. The only difference is that you become Immortal upon reaching level 30
  23. instead of level 100.  Levels 30-99 are v-e-r-y interesting as magic users
  24. become more powerful and fighting classes get tougher.

  26. RPGBBS can run using any Commodore Amiga hardware configuration with a
  27. Hayes compatible program.  Among hardware tested, an Amiga 3000 under
  28. WB2.04/2.1 and a Supra2400, SupraFAX 14.4, and a Practical Peripherals 9600
  29. modems were used.  RPGBBS supports 99 levels, 200 users, 50 gangs.  The
  30. demo version only 29 levels of play.  The message bases hold a specified
  31. amount of messages.  The software multitasks very well, as it is event-
  32. driven and demands very little CPU power at a clip.  The program was
  33. written in SAS/C v6.2 (the only language for Amiga!)

  35. There is ONLINE documentation in the Help & Hints section.  Read them all for
  36. game play instructions!!!

  38. Sysops can access their menu from the pulldown option Sysop or Right-Amiga-S.
  39. From remote locations, King and Queen level users can type an @ at the Main
  40. Menu to get into the Sysop menu.  Access levels determines the user's ability
  41. to use the game features.

  43. To configure RPGBBS:
  44.  
  45.     Copy the Venus font to your System FONTS directory.  This font is necessary
  46.     for the local, custom screen.
  47.  
  48.     Copy noisy.library to your System LIBS directory.  Any IFF sound file named
  49.     Chat.snd will be played whenever a user requests chat.  Press the ESCape
  50.     key to toggle chat mode.

  52.     All files created prior to version 5 are not compatible ! ! !

  54.     RPGBBS.hof file contains Hall Of Fame information for top-notch users.  If
  55.     this file does not exist, a new one gets created.

  57.     User & Gang files get initialize as necessary.

  60.     From the CLI (recommended for AmigaDOS 1.3 users):

  67.     * Double-click the RPGserver icon
  68.     * Duplicate Modem#1 icon as necessary per phone line(s) you have (up to 16)
  69.     * Get Icon Information for each Modem icon and edit its Tool Types to suit
  70.       the modem type
  71.     * Double-click each Modem Icon to boot
  72.     * Double-click the Local Icon, if memory permits
  73.  
  74.     A sample script, RPGBBS-Startup, is provided for you to edit and add to
  75.     your Startup-Sequence or move it into your WBStartup drawer.

  77.     Boot the Config program to modify any of the default values to your liking.

  84. mere $40 to receive licenses & latest executables on diskette.  Upgrade from a
  85. license prior to version 5.x is $15.
