  1.                 Help with Mancala
  2.  
  3. Mancala is one of the oldest two-player strategy games
  4. in the world. It has many variations, and this version
  5. known as Kalaha, is just one variation. Kalaha has
  6. been played for more than 7,000 years throughout Asia
  7. and Africa.
  8.  
  9. The goal of the game is to capture as many "stones" or
  10. playing pieces as possible.
  11.  
  12. The game begins with 4 stones or playing pieces in each
  13. pit. The human player makes the first move.
  14.  
  15. The player picks up all the pieces in one of their pits
  16. and sows the pieces, one in each pit, around the board
  17. counter-clockwise, including into their own Kalaha. If
  18. there are enough pieces, the player continues sowing
  19. into the pits on the opponent's side of the board.
  20.  
  21. If a player's last piece lands in their own Kalaha,
  22. then the player gets another turn.
  23.  
  24. A player may capture the pieces in their opponent's
  25. pit if their last piece is sown in an empty pit on
  26. their side of the board. The player then gets to
  27. capture all of the pieces in the opposite pit (the
  28. opponent's) and store them in their own Kalaha along
  29. with the capturing piece.

  31. When all six pits on one side of the board are empty,
  32. the game is over. The player who still has playing
  33. pieces in their own pits gets to put them in their
  34. own Kalaha. The winner is the player with the most
  35. "stones" or pieces in their own Kalaha.
