"Defense Of The Squid Man" is a Windows 95 shoot-em-up game with three progressively more difficult levels of game play (including animation, music, and sound effects), plus an integrated background story and instructions. Control Squiggler Q. Squidman to destroy the space pirates' ships, before they destroy Squiggler, his family, and the fantastically luxuriant and fulfilling life to which they have all become accustomed!
The game has been tested successfully on machines from a 166 MHz Pentium with 32 Mb of RAM (on which it was developed) down to a 50 MHz '486 with 12 Mb of RAM. (At the lower end, loading time is significantly longer and playback is a bit jerky, but it seems usable. And for some reason, there is a certain variation in loading time from use to use, on all machines.) It requires approximately 6.5 Mb of hard disk space.

All program files are contained in a single zip file, SQUID1.ZIP (approximately 2.72 Mb in size). Download this file to a temporary directory, and extract the files from it. Then run the program SETUP.EXE, which will install the game on your system. An uninstall utility is also provided.
Regarding the game's creation: "Defense Of The Squid Man" was created with Corel Click & Create (TM), a wonderful multimedia authoring and games/screen saver creation tool. (However, because of the game's freeware distribution status, it has not been put through the "official" Click & Create accreditation process.) Anything you like about "Defense Of The Squid Man" is most likely due to Click & Create; anything you don't like about it, or that doesn't work, is probably my fault.
