SUPEROMINOES
Copyright 1991, by Alan Meiss
Introduction:
Superominoes is a solitare puzzle in which the player must arrange
and turn a set of geometric pieces such that they all fit within a
rectangular boundary. The game may be played at two levels: the traditional
Pentominoes, in which all pieces are composed of five squares, and the more
difficult Superominoes, with six-square pieces. The first set has 12 pieces,
the second 35.
Requirements:
Superominoes requires VGA graphics and a mouse to run. Make sure all
files are present in the directory where you are playing.
Instructions:
At the main screen, you may select which set of pieces to play with.
You will then jump to the playing board. The black rectangle in the upper
left is the space you must fill with the various pieces arranged below.
To move a piece, move the mouse cursor to the piece and press the left
button. You will then have "picked up" the piece and may move it around
the screen. To drop the piece, take it to a blank location and again press
the left button. You will not be able to drop the piece if it is overlapping
any other pieces or graphics. Pressing the right button will rotate the
piece, and pressing both mouse buttons will flip the piece (mirror image).
You may turn and flip pieces you have not picked up, but they will not be
changed if any such move would overlap a neighboring piece.
Your challenge is to completely fill the rectangle with the pieces, leaving
no gaps and using all pieces. You may save your progress and restore it,
either from the playing screen or from the main menu when you next run the
program. The save option acts as a scratch pad; there is only one save file,
overwritten with each save, so be certain when you save your game. The
solution to the Pentominoes set is provided as a backup save file. To view
it, go to DOS copy it into the normal save file:
COPY SOLUTION.SAV PENTOM.SAV
When you run the program and restore the save file, you'll see the solution.
The Superominoes solution is a mystery...it's possible, but it's left for the
brave to find.
This program is distributed as shareware. You may freely copy and distribute
the program, but if you enjoy it and would like to encourage the author's
