This text document contains information for installing, using, and registering MathTutr.
MathTutr is a Windows95 or NT shareware program, the purpose of which is to allow young students to practice the basic math skills of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division (with positive and/or negative numbers). The rewards for correct answers are amusing sounds and construction of a bitmap photo. Each photo has a text explanation of interesting facts concerning the photo.
To install the program,
1. place the mathtutr.zip file in a directory on your hard drive (preferably a blank directory)
2. unzip the mathtutr.zip file using a recent version of pkunzip.exe (e.g. contained in Winzip, etc)
3. click on or run setup.exe to load the program onto your hard drive
4. run the program by clicking Start, then Programs, then MathTutr
MathTutr comes with 23 different short sounds and 10 different bitmaps with corresponding text files, all stored within the "c:/locker" directory after program installation. The program cycles through all sounds and bitmaps in a random order; the bitmaps are not repeated until all 10 have cycled once.
The user can replace the original bitmaps, text files, and sounds with his/her own bitmaps (*.bmp files), text files *.txt) and/or sounds (*.wav files) by simply naming the new files the same names as the original files. For registered users, additional ready-made bitmaps, text files, and sounds are available for download from an internet web site or can be mailed to you on disks.
The main program files are stored in the c:\Program Files\MathTutr directory.
To run the program, click on Start, then Programs, then MathTutr. Numbers can be entered by clicking on the number buttons on the "blackboard" or, often easier, by using your keypad number keys (make sure the NUMLOCK is ON). The menu items are (hopefully) self-explanatory.

Once the fee is received, I will send you a registration code to eliminate the startup screen as well as allow you access to the web site for many more photos, text files, and sounds.
