  55. 1. The game supplied is an unregistered version.  This version is
  56.    provided as a demonstration of the game capabilities and provides 
  57.    a fully functioning BACCARAT simulation.  Some game enhancements 
  58.    are reserved for those users who find this game to be a worthwhile 
  59.    investment. Shareware is a try before you buy marketing method. If 
  60.    you make regular use of this software, you are expected to "purchase"
  61.    it by paying the registration fee. As an incentive to register this 
  62.    program, I will send you the newest version of this software complete
  63.    with all the game enhancements not available in the unregistered 
  64.    copy.  These features are listed below.

  66.                          REGISTRATION BENEFITS
  67.  
  68. 1. Your registered version will no longer have registration reminders
  69.    on screen.
  70. 2. Your registered version will save all game information for all players
  71.    and will recall this information for each new game allowing the player
  72.    to continue a game started in a previous session.
  73. 3. Your registered version will allow up to 6 "Human" players to play at  
  74.    one time.  Any seats not occupied by a human will be filled in by computer
  75.    generated players.  The unregistered version allows only one "Human" player
  76.    to play at a time.
  77. 4. Sound Blaster support is provided.  If you have a Sound Blaster or 100%
  78.    compatible system, you can order the optional voice pack for this game.
  79.    These files will allow you to hear digital recordings of the words seen
  80.    in the talk balloons.  This provides for a more realistic and entertain-
  81.    ing game.  NOTE: When all voice files are decompressed to your hard disk,
  82.    they will occupy nearly 1 mega byte of space.

  143. A registration / order form can be printed out using this utility. Press 
  144. "P" and select choice #2.  Specific printer support is not provided, but
  145. the form is ASCII text and should print on most printers.  If you can't
  146. print out of copy of the registration / order form, just send me a note
  147. and let me know what option you want.  The file name for the order form is 
  148. "ORDERFRM.TXT", you can load this file into your word processor for print
  149. out if desired.  Please include the type of disk desired.

  154.                       INSTALLATION / SET UP
  155.  
  156. Use the install program provided to set this game up for play.  All program 
  157. files must be uncompressed and located in the same directory.

  159.                           GAME START UP
  160.  
  161. The game is started by typing "BACCARAT" after being properly installed.
  162.  
  163.                        COMMAND LINE OPTIONS
  164.  
  165. The following letters may be included on the command line when invoking 
  166. the program to provide the following results.
  167.  
  168.       /D D or DEMO --- Starts the game in the Demo mode.  Push F-1
  169.                            to end the Demo.
  170.  
  171.       /S S or SILENT - Starts the game without the Sound Blaster 
  172.                            selected. 
  173.  
  174. NOTE:  These command line options may be combined if desired.
  175.  
  176.                         PLAYING THE GAME
  177.  
  178. The information provided below applies to the registered version of this
  179. game.  Some features are reserved for registered users.  See Registration
  180. benefits above for a list of these features.
  181.  
  182. Follow the prompts to sign in.  Up to 6 "HUMAN" players may play at the 
  183. same time.  If less than 6 "HUMANS" will play,  up to 3 computer players 
  184. will fill in the empty seats.
  185.  
  186. The first step is for each player to place a bet.  The player's name
  187. (who is next in line to place a bet) will flash until his bet is
  188. placed.  
  189.  
  190. The letter in () for each menu category may be used from the
  191. keyboard to access that menu item.  If in a sub menu, the first
  192. letter of the menu item will activate that menu event.
  193.  
  194. Buttons on a menu will not be present for a category that is N/A
  195. at that time.  For instance,  the (P)ush last bet category will
  196. only have a button next to it if the previous bet round was won. 
  197.  
  198. Escape will exit from the present menu to the invoking menu.  If in
  199. the MAIN MENU, pushing Escape will produce the same results as select
  200. ing the QUIT button.

  202.                            MAIN MENU
  203.  
  204. Bet P(L)ayers --- implements the PLAYER bet.
  205.  
  206. Bet B(A)nkers --- implements the BANKER bet.
  207.  
  208. Bet T(I)e     --- implements the TIE bet.
  209.  
  210. (R)epeat Last --- Allows the better to repeat his last bet.  No
  211.                   button for this selection until an initial bet
  212.                   has been made.
  213.  
  214. (P)ush Last Win - Allows the better to press his last bet + 
  215.                   winnings for the next bet.  No button for this
  216.                   selection unless the better's last bet was a 
  217.                   winner.
  218.  
  219. (C)hip Value ---- Allows the better to select the value of the
  220.                   smallest chip.  Possible bets range from this 
  221.                   chip value to 5 x this chip value.
  222.  
  223. (G)ame Speed ---- Game speed ranges from 1 to 25.  Higher values 
  224.                   equal faster games.  If a sound blaster is
  225.                   found by the game, it will be disabled at 
  226.                   settings above 20.
  227.  
  228. (O)ptions ------- Opens the options menu.
  229.  
  230.                          OPTIONS MENU
  231.  
  232. (P)ass Shoe ----- Allows the better who is the BANKER to pass
  233.                   the bank (shoe) if he/she so desires.
  234.  
  235. (B)accarat Info - Provides general information concerning Baccarat,
  236.                   Commissions, Game Play and Payoffs.  If NEXT is 
  237.                   selected, a table of RULES GOVERNING CARD DRAWS
  238.                   is displayed.
  239.  
  240. (T)utor --------- This selection can be toggled on/off.  When On
  241.                   (button down), the large curtain in the center of 
  242.                   the game screen drops down from the top and the 
  243.                   player will be provided with an explanation of the
  244.                   game as it proceeds.  Each step in the game play 
  245.                   will be explained.  To move to the next step one
  246.                   need only push a mouse or keyboard key.  Once the 
  247.                   player no longer needs the TUTOR, he/she can toggle
  248.                   toggle it off.
  249.  
  250. (S)tats --------- Show game statistics for each player at the table.
  251.  
  252. (R)esults ------- When selected (button down), the large curtain in 
  253.                   the center of the game screen drops down from the
  254.                   top and the player is provided with a listing of 
  255.                   all players, their last bet and the results of the
  256.                   round.  NOTE: this will happen at the end of the 
  257.                   round regardless of the status of the Results 
  258.                   button.  When Results is selected, the results
  259.                   screen stays in view throughout the game (unless
  260.                   the TUTOR is also selected).  If not selected, it 
  261.                   will be moved out of view when the cards are 
  262.                   played.  
  263.                 
  264. (M)ouse --------- This selection allows adjustment of the mouse
  265.                   sensitivity.
  266.  
  267. (V)oice --------- When selected (button down), the talk seen in the
  268.                   dealers talk balloons will be annunciated by the
  269.                   sound blaster (provided one is available and the
  270.                   optional Voice Pack has been ordered).  This 
  271.                   selection can be toggled On/Off.  If the game speed
  272.                   is increased above 20 the sound blaster is disabled.

  274. (E)xit ---------- Exits the Options menu back to the Main Menu.
  275.  
  276.                              USE WITH WINDOWS
  277.  
  278. 1.  This product was not written specifically for windows compatibility,
  279. but in most cases it can be used from WINDOWS 3.1.  Compatibility with 
  280. WINDOWS is not guaranteed.  To use this product from windows perform the 
  281. following......
  282.  
  283.     a. Install the program normally from DOS. Make note of the drive
  284.            and directory on which you installed the program.
  285.     b. Start Windows.  Bring up the Program Manager.
  286.  
  287.            NOTE: If you want to place this file into an existing Program
  288.            Group, select the program group you want this program to fit 
  289.            into and skip to step f.
  290.  
  291.     c. Click on File then click New. 
  292.       d. Select Program Group then click the OK button. 
  293.     e. In Description enter "GAMBLERS", then click the OK button.
  294.     f. Click File from the Program Manager, then click New.
  295.     g. Select Program Item then click the OK button.
  296.     h. In the Program Item Properties box enter the following.
  297.            Description      : "ULTIMATE BACCARAT".
  298.            Command Line     : "BACCARAT.EXE"
  299.        Working Directory: (enter the drive and directory as noted in A
  300.            above.  EXAMPLE: "d:\baccarat"
  301.     i. Click Change Icon button then click the next OK button.
  302.     j. In the File Name block enter "(drive and directory as noted in A
  303.            above plus "\BAC.ICO"), then push the OK button. 
  304.            EXAMPLE: "d:\baccarat\bac.ico". 
  305.       k. You should see the BACCARAT icon appear as the Program Item 
  306.            Properties dialoge box reappears.  Push the OK button and you
  307.            are now done.
  308.         
  309.         NOTE: If you have a sound blaster, insure the proper driver is 
  310.         installed through the Windows Control Panel.  You may have to adjust
  311.         the DMA buffer.  If you receive a windows error message advising you
  312.         to adjust the DMA buffer, use an ASCII text editor to add the 
  313.         following line to the [386Enh] section or your windows "system.ini" 
  314.         file.  Add "DMABUFFERSIZE = 017" to this file.

  316.                          OTHER ULTIMATE GAMES
  317.  
  318. Go where no card player has gone before, into the ULTIMATE ZONE.  These 2
  319. exciting and addictive games will provide hours of entertainment and 
  320. excitement.  Each game has been designed to provide a realistic simulation of
  321. the game it emulates.  These games use keyboard or mouse and require 540K, 
  322. EGA or VGA, DOS 3.1 or above, and a hard disk.  A sound blaster voice pack 
  323. is available for both games.

  325.                             ULTIMATE BLACKJACK
  326.  
  327. Enter a fully animated casino card game and gambling school where you play
  328. solo against the dealer or with any of 12 computer characters, each with a
  329. different style of play (biographies included!).  Set the number of decks,
  330. change the rules to match any casino, and monitor stats as the game 
  331. progresses.  See how the other player's strategies and bets fare in the long
  332. run.  Want more, how about this -- a simulation feature lets you test custom 
  333. strategies!  You can even use 2 different card counting systems.  Novices 
  334. will also appreciate the slick online tutor that suggests the best moves.  
  335. Even more features are included, but be prepared!  If you take a seat at 
  336. this table you may never get up!

  340. Pull up a seat and get ready for a great game of GIN RUMMY with one of 8
  341. notorious players.  Choose the game variation you like to play (Standard
  342. Gin or one of 2 forms of Oklahoma Gin).  Hollywood scoring is an option
  343. you can choose to spice up the game.  How about the game score?  You can
  344. set the game score and all bonus points to the way you want them.  Play up
  345. to 40 games in a match with any of the 8 players.  Continue the match at
  346. a later time, or start a new match if desired.  Check out the player's 
  347. biographies and see which one (playing skill for each is different) you want
  348. to challenge.  Set the game speed, check the score book at any time and 
  349. much more.
