Awhile back, Compute!'s Gazette published a VIC-20 Emulator for the
Commodore 64. I have this emulator, and it seems to work OK.
However, the emulator works too well, and you can even specify memory
configurations.
Well, after hassling with it for too long, I decided the best thing to do
would be to try and convert the programs to run on a Commodore 64 without
such an emulator. This would allow the freedom of having lots of memory,
with the only drawback being a 40-column screen output and thus
"scrunched" looking characters.
This was a great idea until I realized I have no idea how to convert
screen codes, color codes, etc. to work correctly on the 64. The Horizons
article in a 1984 issue suggested a method for converting screen codes to
work on the 64, but did not suggest other conversion codes for other
sections of memory (such as color codes, or reading the joystick)
Anybody out there care to divulge these codes? A Vic-20 memory map,
perhaps, and formulas for converting such information?
Much thanks.
Regards,
Paul Allen Panks
(P.S. I may just buy a VIC-20 and end my hassles, but for now I am
wanting to convert some programs previously published in CG to work on my 64)

This signature file was brought to you by Paul Panks, not Micro$oft, IBM,
or any of those other money-sapping, machine-wasting companies bent on world
domination. Did you here that Micro$oft wants to purchase the Catholic
Church? I don't think Bill Gates would make a very good choir boy. I think
its time to put our foots down and stop this maniac before he declares
his campaign for the Presidency!
