(Vic20 cart list; part five of five)
That's the entire Vic20 cartridge list, as it stands now. Told ya it was
long!
Adding to the list:
Please be careful to actually confirm additions, get the names and numbers for
them correct, and so on. A public net discussion would be my suggestion to see
if a cartridge was "official enough" to be added to the list. Both James Carter
and I added things very carefully; James would not add things at all, without
very definite confirmations. I added a lot of things to his lists, but I did so
by annotating things on the side, and including a vaporware section as a holding
tank, until something was solidly confirmed.
Cartridge rarity:
Rarity values will probably be some time off. The Vaporware section should give
everyone some fun for awhile, trying to track those carts down and so on. In the
process of doing this, the most serious Vic20 collectors will probably get a
good idea of what is common, rare, or very rare as the case may be. I know which
carts I couldn't find, but didn't include that information, as I figure too many
people still have closets and attics full of Vic stuff! Until those closets are
emptied, its really too early to assign rarity values, in my opinion. One
suggestion: if you know how many "big collectors" you are dealing with, you can
temporarily assign a number to it if you're interested, like a fraction. In
other words 2/5 would mean two guys have it, out of five.
Conclusion:
Have fun with the new Vic20 cartridge list! Remember, when the fun has died down
on getting this list perfected, that there's no Vic20 cassette list yet. That
list might be larger than this one, there were so many out there once! I myself
was almost scared to tackle that one! Partial tape lists are out there, if
anyone decided to add to them. Magazines are a good resource for seeing what
used to be "out there", but use them carefully, due to vaporware, etc. This
means those old Compute's and Compute's Gazette that no one used to want, could
also become more valuable, as time goes on. The older ones had a lot of Vic20
ads, and Vic20 type-in programs, game reviews, and so on.
