¢RESCUE¢Partition table backup utility¢¢This simple program does something,¢that may sometimes be very important:¢it saves the master partition table¢to a file (PTSAV.DAT), where the¢table may be later restored from,¢after a hard disk crash (quite unlikely,¢but you know...).¢¢HOW TO USE¢----------¢¢1) After you have partitioned your¢ hard drive, configured everything¢ and got the disk to work, please¢ run RESCUE.¢¢2) Select <B> option from the menu.¢¢3) After the RESCUE quits, you should¢ find a file called PTSAV.DAT in¢ the current directory.¢¢4) Now prepare a rescue floppy:¢ format a new floppy disk, and¢ copy there FDISK, RESCUE and¢ PTSAV.DAT. Don't forget about¢ DOS system files, so that you¢ could boot the computer off this¢ floppy.¢¢5) Keep this floppy at safe place.¢¢6) If a crash occurs and it seems¢ your partition table is no longer¢ valid (the computer doesn't boot¢ the hard drive), please insert¢ your rescue disk to the floppy¢ drive D1:, then reboot your¢ computer holding down the SHIFT¢ key.¢¢7) When boot has finished, run¢ RESCUE and select <R> option from¢ the menu.¢¢8) After the RESCUE quits, try to¢ reboot your computer from the¢ hard drive. If your troubles were¢ really caused by invalid master¢ partition table, now it should¢ work OK.¢¢If you still have problems, try to¢use FDISK to repair your partition¢table.¢
