Notes on BBXFER 1.8 01/10/2000¢===============================¢¢BBXFER is a utility that allows your Black Box and Floppy Board¢combination to Read, Write, and Format using the PC Disk format.¢This format is compatible with all versions of MSDOS, Windows 3.1, ¢Windows 95/98; and should be compatible with any future versions.¢¢** IMPORTANT NOTE! **¢¢If you are using an Operating System that can modify drive number¢assignments, BBXFER will ignore these reassignments ONLY WHEN TALKING¢TO A PC TYPE DISK! When dealing with Atari 8-bit disks, this does not¢apply. Examples of this are the UltraSpeed + OS, and the Multiplexer¢Slave OS. The BBXFER program makes direct calls to the Black Box/FB ¢hardware, so the drive number assignments in the BB main menu are what¢be used when dealing with the FB drive containing the PC disk.¢¢This program is Y2K Compliant!¢¢If you are using a Command Processor DOS such as SpartaDOS, you may use¢the command line mode of BBXFER, bypassing the menus. You could¢even call it from a batch file! Use BBXFER /HELP to display the commands.¢¢If you have a R-Time8 cartridge installed, the time/date stamp for the¢PC files you write will be taken from the clock. Otherwise, it¢defaults to 11:59AM, 01/08/00.¢¢Included in this package is the original Archiver/Editor program¢from the 810 Archiver. The Floppy Board supports the Archiver¢command set, so you may get a kick of using the Editor, Formatter,¢and Mapper in this program to examine disks, and even backup protected¢single density disks. No documentation is provided, sorry.¢Hints: use E to enter the Editor, then M for the Mapper, F for¢the Formatter. Use P to change parameters. R to Read, W to Write.¢¢I hope you appreciate the time and effort invested in this update. You¢would not believe how picky Windows 95 is on floppy disk formats!¢I spent about 50 hours tracking down and fixing the disk format problem.¢CSS Continues to provide as much support as is possible for our 8-bit ¢products. Seven years after creating our last big 8-bit product, ¢we have again made available Floppy Boards.
