¢¢ BIT BYTER "SONDERDISK # 7"¢ ¢ ¢ Translation by Horst A. Dewitz¢¢ International Correspondent for¢ABBUC, Ol Hackers and LIAUG.¢ ¢ ¢I am a little late in presenting you¢with the latest news from the Bit¢Byter Sonderdisk # 7. Job and home¢endeavors prevented a more timely¢response and I appologize for that.¢ ¢The disk, as usual, has mostly text¢that is of more local value. I give¢you a translation of INFO.TXT which is¢the news. All other text programs ¢have not generated any interest in the¢past and are more or less updates of¢previous .TXT files.¢ ¢ Side A¢ ¢COMPY.TXT - A rather gloomy letter by¢Peter Bee, COMPY-SHOP, one of three 8¢bit suppliers in West Germany. He sees¢no future for the 8 bit machine, at¢least for him as business man who¢needs a profit for survival. He will¢support ABBUC, but cannot guaranty¢supplies for lack of support by¢vendors.¢ ¢PETERS.TXT - Letter from KLAUS PETERS¢ELECTRONIC & SOFTWARE indicating their¢support for the 8 bit by taking over¢hardware and software projects and¢products from the COMPY-SHOP under¢license contract, as well advertising¢their own product line.¢ ¢XFORMR.TXT ROMDISK.TXT - Product¢reviews¢PDECKE.TXT - ABBUC's PD-Library¢catalog¢ ¢INFO.TXT - see complete translation¢ ¢TWORD.TXT - German documentation for¢TURBOWORD+¢ (Micromiser¢ Software 1989)¢ ¢BAUBEXL.TXT¢BAUBEST.TXT¢BAUPLAN.TXT¢BAUINFO.TXT - Schematics, layouts,¢odering and other circuit boards¢info.¢ ¢ ¢INFO.TXT translation:¢ ¢ Hello Bit Byters!¢ ¢A little late, but SONDERMAGAZIN # 7¢is ready for you now. Late because of¢medical treatments, the Dortmund Fair¢and a brief vacation, leaving me¢little time.¢ ¢Hobbytronic 1990¢As you know by now, the¢HOBBYTRONIC/COMPUTERSHOW atDortmund¢took place from April 25th thru April¢29th. ABBUC most certainly was¢represented again. As a first we had¢the biggest booth yet, 20qm(Square¢meters!). Preparation of the booth for¢the expected drove of visitor took¢place on Tuesday with the eager help¢of volunteers. The most noticeable¢characteristic of the ABBUC booth was¢the towering, turning ATARI LOGO. This¢LOGO and it's mounting came to us as a¢gift from SAG, the deceased¢Netherlands Atari Users Club.¢¢Underneath the Logo we displayed our¢ABBUC and 8 BIT signs. We demoed at¢many workstations, especially the 80¢column card. Eye catching was the¢frequency counter from Friedhelm ¢ Giese and Klaus Langenkaemper, more¢about this later.¢¢Wednesday's opening immediately caused¢a gathering of Atari users at our¢booth. Partially due to the fact that¢the LOGO was already visible from the¢hall entrance. Many ST users ¢left our booth disappointed, realizing¢that this was a booth for the "LITTLE¢ONE" only. Every Bit Byter visiting¢the booth received a disk containing¢the schematics for a lie detector as a¢gift. By the way about 200 Bit Byters¢visited our booth!¢ ¢For sale at the booth: the brand new¢game KAISER II, software from KE-SOFT¢and software and hardware from the¢COMPY-SHOP and PETERS ELECTRONICS at¢special fair and club prices. I like¢to inject at this point the fact that¢no other 8 Bit soft- or hardware was¢available at the fair. Contrary to¢last years experience, our treasurer¢was quiet satisfied with the sales¢results. We even made a little profit.¢The biggest gain was our increase in¢members, 30 new Bit Byters, which we¢welcome again. ABBUC now has 639¢members, a new record.¢ ¢KAISER II¢Bit Byter Carsten Strotmann gave the¢old game KAISER an new look and¢presented it as KAISER II. The game¢can be played by up to 6 players.¢Graphic's are excellent. Even so it¢relates closely to the old KAISER, the¢possibility to add saboteurs and spies¢make the game more enjoyable.¢Unfortunately the game runs only on¢XE's or 800XL's with RAM upgrade. The¢game is available for DM 39.95 (Club¢Members DM 35.--) from Andre Kaiser ¢ Nietzschestr.50 5600 Wuppertal West¢Germany¢ ¢FREQUENCY COUNTER¢As mentioned, the inventors of the¢VIDIO DIGITIZER (for the 8 Bit),¢Friedhelm Giese and Klaus¢Langenkaemper built something new, a¢frequency counter for the 8 bit¢computer. The circuit board connects¢to the joystick port and with Turbo¢Basic makes it possible to measure all¢curves (sine, rectangle, triangle).¢Theoretical testarea reaches to 16.64¢Mhz. Up to 8 test points can be¢labeled and saved. Schematics are¢available from Klaus Langenkaemper¢Friedrich Ruin Str. 62 4408 Duelmen¢West Germany¢¢Package includes:¢- Original software¢- Layout¢- Parts list¢- Schematics¢Price: DM 18.-- ( I assume shipping is¢extra H A Dewitz)¢ ¢FLOPPY CONTROLLER¢Our quarz oscillator problem seems to¢be solved. Michael Pascher developed a¢control, which will combine on hand¢quarz's to a quarz oscillator. We hope¢to tell you more in our magazine #¢21.¢ ¢VIDIOTEXT INTERFACE¢Obtaining the vidiotext modules is a¢major problem. It is impossible to¢obtain these modules at a reasonable¢price in Germany. But don't despair,¢we are working on this problem.¢ ¢RESIDENT¢¢Bit Byter Roland Buehler suggests the¢expansion of Michael's Pascher¢ramboard. Roland plans the following:¢RS 232 Driver¢Hardcopy routine for screen print¢Clock driver¢Roland asks for cooperation from those¢who worked on these items already.¢Please contact him at Roland Buehler ¢Kirchstrasse 5 7290¢Freudenstadt-Wittelsweiler West¢Germany¢¢Cooperation could mean a free ram¢board.¢ ¢FAIR LEFTOVERS¢¢Software leftovers from the fair are¢available, for those who were not able¢to attend.
