*==*¢ MINUTES OF THE MARCH 1994 MEETING.¢ ==================================¢¢ NEW MEMBERS:¢¢ RUDY DiGIOSAFFATTE of Succasunna¢ N.J. joined us. He saw one of our¢ newsletter and he liked what he saw¢ and joined us. We answered and¢ responded to a few problems he had¢ with his SX212 MODEM. RUDY, a math¢ teacher, only has a 1020 printer which¢ he puts to good use. MICHAEL FORZANO¢ of Sterling VA. also joined us. MIKE¢ was about to sell his 8 BIT outfit¢ because he has a 16 BIT. He called¢ ALEX who persuaded him to stay with¢ the 8 BIT, after he said how he hated¢ to sell his upgraded equipment.¢ Welcome to the club. You will have a¢ good time and make many new friends.¢¢ CORRESPONDENCE:¢¢ ATARI CLASSICS is ending its¢ publications after the April/May¢ issue. Not enough support by the 8-¢ BIT community was shown in renewal of¢ subscriptions. It was a great¢ magazine. Words cannot describe the¢ admiration we have for the FANTASTIC¢ job by OUR MEMBER, BEN POEHLAND. It is¢ now up the clubs like us and all other¢ 8-BIT clubs to keep the 8-BIT alive.¢ We are strong and hope to keep the¢ 8-BIT Atari computer world alive!!¢ A letter from our member DENNIS¢ KLINE in Florida. He mailed us some¢ PRINT SHOP pictures and materials that¢ he printed with his 24 pin printer. We¢ saw some PRINT SHOP GRAPHICS. The¢ pictures were normal in every respect¢ except that they were longer in the¢ vertical direction. It looked to me¢ that the printer did not produce any¢ darker or more defined print than a 9¢ PIN Dot Matrix. I suspect that only 9¢ pins of the printer are used. He also¢ used it with DOT MAGIC II and 1st¢ XLEnt word processor. He uses a¢ PANASONIC KX 1124i 24 PIN printer. For¢ the PRINT SHOP pictures he uses the¢ CENTRONICS GLP printer selection.¢ THOMAS WRAY our member from Texas¢ wants to know how to use the program¢ WORD WEAVE from our N/L disk. ALEX¢ replied and gave him instructions on¢ how to use it.¢ A letter to NORMAN WILLIAMSON our¢ member in England by ALEX. ALEX¢ thanked him for the disks that he¢ mailed and said that he will demo them¢ at our meeting. ALEX said he liked the¢ songs on the disk, especially the¢ Anniversary Waltz and the menu screen,¢ and a song for each program¢ A disk and letter was sent to SAM¢ CORY of N.J. and librarian of JACG by¢ ALEX. He mailed him NORMAN¢ WILLIAMSON'S disks. ¢ Alex also sent a letter an a copy¢ to DALE WOOSTER, President of¢ N.W.P.A.C.¢ A letter from our member DANIEL¢ CARRODANO of France. He mailed ALEX a¢ disk with TEXTPRO and DAISY DOT III.¢ Daniel gave him some hints on how to¢ use it. ALEX liked the picture of¢ POPEYE and OLIVEOIL. DANIEL is doing¢ most of the translation of reviews¢ from English into French for Club¢ CENACLE (FRANCE) an all 8-BIT club.¢ ALLAN ATKINS our member is quoted¢ in P.A.C.E. from Largo Fl. on his¢ article on the SAM Service Information¢ for the 8-BIT. It was quoted from our¢ N/L. They also thanked yours truly for¢ mailing them the "TREASURER'S REPORT"¢ program.¢ ALLEN ATKINS also mailed 25 pages¢ of medical information to our member¢ BILL SMINKEY regarding a medical¢ condition that BILL has. BILL¢ responded by thanking him for wealth¢ of information he received. He said¢ this shows what a great group the OL'¢ HACKERS are, in servicing a very new¢ member. We wish BILL a good recovery¢ from his upcoming operation.¢ A letter from DANE STEGMAN our¢ member from upstate N.Y. He really¢ liked the MAR/APR N/L. He has some¢ problems with PAGE 6 SOFTWARE from¢ England. He said¢ he received a new copy of the ATARI¢ GADGETS USERS DISK. He mailed us a¢ working copy. He also mailed us 3¢ double sided disk with PRINT SHOP¢ FONTS. (I didn't know there were that¢ many in existence!) They are in the¢ library #460, 461, 462. ALEX replied¢ that the last issue of TWAUG was great¢ and we appreciate the disks they¢ mailed us, and we particularly liked¢ the pictures of our group in the¢ Newsletter. (A bunch of handsome chaps¢ -, and their ladies, even if we do say¢ so ourselves)!¢ ALEX wrote to JOHN DICKERSON to¢ request copies of their 1993 and 1994¢ DOM disks.¢ JOE HICSWA our member from N.J.¢ and JACG writes us that he uses the¢ 1st XLENT w.p. to write address¢ labels. He uses a daisy wheel printer.¢ If the labels start to slip in the¢ printer he pauses the printing with¢ the space bar and adjustes the¢ labels.¢ From our Scottish member S.J.¢ MURRAY we received a letter and FUTURA¢ DISK #11. He thanked us for allowing¢ our newsletter to be included in their¢ PD library.¢ ALEX wrote to our member JIM¢ CUTLER in England and thanked him for¢ the disks. He also told him he could¢ send British Pound notes for his¢ orders in the future. We have a bank¢ that will exchange it for U.S.¢ Dollars.¢ A letter from DALE WOOSTER of¢ NWPAC from Phoenix AZ. He rubbed it in¢ a little. He mailed us his newspapers¢ weather report of 75-80 degree F.¢ while we up here are F-R-E-E-Z-I-N-G.¢ He tells us that their club is¢ planning a swap meet. He mailed us an¢ excellent crossword game disk.¢ A letter from new member RUDY¢ DiGIOSAFFATTE. He writes us that SAM¢ CORY one of our New JERSEY members¢ gave him some N/L. disks and he liked¢ them. He decided to join us. He also¢ had some problems connecting his SX212¢ MODEM directly to a phone line. We¢ advised him to use a P.R. connection¢ or the 850 Interface because it is¢ more reliable and it is then a¢ standard connection.¢ A letter from JOE LEBER our local¢ member to ALEX. He thanked him for¢ SUPER DOS VER. 5.1. He advises all¢ Atarians that VER. 5.1 OF SUPERDOS¢ does NOT work on INDUS DISK DRIVES it¢ works OK on all the other drives.(Ver.¢ 4.4, however works OK on INDUS drives,¢ go figure!)¢¢ DEMOS:¢¢ We were shown NORMAN WILLIAMSON'S¢ disk. He is one of our newer members¢ from England and a terrific¢ programmer. The disk came with great¢ music and a dedication screen to the¢ OL' HACKERS. He converted a whole¢ bunch of sheet music into Atari 8-Bit¢ music. It is great programming. It¢ also has a monthly Calendar program, a¢ Christmas quiz, Dice Doll, Fuel Check,¢ Multi-Format, Wallpapering measuring,¢ Wedding Quiz (a gift guide), Yattzzi¢ and Ludo Chase (board game). On the¢ back we have Counter Action,¢ Caterpillar Race, Coat of Arms and a 9 ¢ hole golf. We played the golf game.¢ Very nice and very tricky. It is¢ library #463.¢ We saw an XBASIC DEMO and CODE¢ WRITER DEMO. Library #464. A SAM DEMO¢ DISK. Library #465. THE DEMONSTRATOR¢ DEMO DISK. Library #466. TRIAD DEMO¢ AND ALLIANTS DEMO. Library #467. GAMES¢ DEMO and ADVENTURE DEMO DISK. Library¢ #468. EUROPEAN DEMO and RALLY¢ SPEEDWAY DEMO. Library #469. ZYBEX and¢ SAXXON DEMO. Library #470. VISICALC¢ DEMO and EDUFUNT DEMO. This is a one sheet¢ compilation of BEN POEHLAND'S¢ articles. If you want a copy write to¢ RON or ALEX and we will mail it to¢ you. Send a self addressed stamped¢ legal size envelope. If you intend to¢ do the upgrades - this will be a great¢ help to you.¢ Library disk #472 is a disk from¢ our member DANIEL CARRODANO of France.¢ He has combined TEXTPRO and DDIII¢ (shareware version) into one program.¢ You can switch easily between the two¢ without losing any text and you can¢ print it with DDIII. A great utility¢ for anyone to get. It also has many¢ DDIII fonts on it for you to use. On¢ side two we have ACE C Compiler.¢ We saw TWAUG issue #8. Library¢ #473. On it is FIND A KEY, P.S.¢ PICTURE PRINT (prints 7 icons on one¢ line - a little slow), PP HACK CONVRT,¢ PO HAM, COPY +, ALIEN PIN BALL, BSP¢ TIME( CHANGE TURBO BASIC TO EUROPEAN¢ TIME), TINY MITE and CONVERSION. Side¢ two has a lot of TURBO BASIC utilities¢ (MYDOS) by JOHN PICKEN of the Garden¢ City ACE in Victoria BC, Canada.¢ We saw JOHN PICKENS (GARDEN CITY¢ ACE in Victoria BC Canada) Beta¢ version of XLTWO.COM. JOHN is working¢ out a few bugs and then he is going to¢ release it as SHAREWARE. What this¢ program will do is it will let you¢ configure your XL/XE computer as TWO¢ computers working completely¢ independently from each other. You can¢ load XE1 computer with a program and¢ do all the normal things you always¢ do. You can also load XE2 with a¢ different program and do all the¢ normal things. You can go back and¢ forth between the two computers. This¢ is just an overview of the program.¢ There are many other features. It is a¢ great idea and JOHN is to be commented¢ for implementing it. We just showed¢ it. It is not in our library, persuant¢ to JOHNS request.¢ ¢ DOOR PRIZES:¢ ¢ RON FETZER¢ HAROLD PEGLER¢ BOB ULSCHMID¢ HARRY TUTHILL¢ JOE LEBER¢ Submitted by Ron Fetzer¢ >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>END<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<¢
