¢ULTRA TRANSLATOR by Tim Patrick¢Revision 2.0¢¢This documentation written by Alan Birch¢¢ULTRA TRANSLATOR IS A VERSION OF "FIX-XL" THAT WORKS FOR *CARTRIDGES* AS WELL AS FOR DISKS!¢¢"ULTRA TRANSLATOR" is subtitled "ULTRAFIX/XL", Revision 2.0, Copyright 1984/86 by Tim Patrick who places a Hawaii address on his docs as follows:¢¢TIM PATRICK¢544-C WAILEPO ST.¢KAILUA, HI 96734¢USA¢¢The documentation provided to me with the program is not specific to the Ultra Translator, it indicates that the collected works he produced are Public Domain, or at least Shareware.¢¢THIS IS HOW "ULTRA TRANSLATOR" WORKS TO RUN A CARTRIDGE THAT WILL NOT RUN ON THE XL/XE:¢¢Place the program on a DOS disk and rename it "AUTORUN.SYS" or load it from DOS with option "L", Binary Load. BE SURE TO HOLD DOWN THE <OPTION> KEY when booting the disk. The <HELP> key will give you the instructions. Press the <START> + <OPTION> keys TOGETHER to boot a CARTRIDGE. The screen will blank out and turn a color. Insert the cartridge and the cartridge will run!¢¢I ran the cartridge version of Spinnaker's Story Machine, which will not run on the XL/XE computers. IT RAN BEAUTIFULLY!!! (I have a 130XE.)¢¢The program also has versions for both the 48K and 52K revision-B compatible operating systems. It toggles BASIC on and off, so you really DON'T HAVE TO hold down the <OPTION> key, but the cartridge may not boot if basic is not disabled. Holding down the <OPTION> key just assures that you disable BASIC.¢¢This program appears to be one of the best kept secrets for the Atari 8-bit¢computers!¢
