  66.          DirectXÖ from Microsoft« is part of the Windows operating system
  67.          used by developers to allow games to take full advantage of your

  70.          The Three Musketeers requires that DirectXÖ 8.1 or a newer version
  71.          is installed on your computer.

  77.     PERFORMANCE TIPS
  78.  
  79.          The LAUNCHER WINDOW appears everytime you run the game. Here you
  80.          can change many graphical settings that affects the speed and
  81.          visual quality of the game.

  83.     SCREEN RESOLUTION
  84.  
  85.          Decreasing the screen resolution to 640x480 increases framerate
  86.          dramatically on older PC hardware. 
  87.  
  88.          Additional options can be found on the ADVANCED SETTINGS page.
  89.          You may experiment with these in order to achieve maximum
  90.          performance and graphical quality.

  92.     HARDWARE 3D / SOFTWARE 3D
  93.  
  94.          For the best game experience, we recommend to run the game in 
  95.          HARDWARE 3D mode. If you have an older PC, HARDWARE 3D mode may
  96.          not work correcly, in which case you must run the game in
  97.          SOFTWARE 3D (the game runs on almost any PC in SOFTWARE 3D mode).

  99.     FULLSCREEN / WINDOWED
  100.  
  101.          Running the game in FULLSCREEN mode normally results in the best
  102.          performance and graphical quality. For widescreen displays (as 
  103.          featured in modern laptop computers), WINDOWED mode is usually
  104.          preferable to avoid a stretched image.
  105.  
  106.     TEXTURE QUALITY
  107.  
  108.          Graphics cards with low amounts of RAM may benefit from decreasing
  109.          the TEXTURE QUALITY. Suggested settings;
  110.  
  111.          HIGH QUALITY   - graphics cards with 64+ MB RAM
  112.          MEDIUM QUALITY - graphics cards with 32+ MB RAM
  113.          LOW QUALITY    - graphics cards with 8-32 MB RAM
  114.  
  115.     TOON INKING
  116.  
  117.          Disabling TOON INKING may dramatically increase speed for certain
  118.          graphics cards that render anti-aliased (AA) lines very slowly. 
  119.  
  120.     DYNAMIC SHADOWS
  121.  
  122.          This feature is dependant on the speed of your CPU and should be the
  123.          option of choice to disable in order to increase framerate. 
  124.          Note that most integrated graphic cards do not provide enough
  125.          fillrate to handle DYNAMIC SHADOWS efficiently.

  127.     MONITOR V-SYNC
  128.  
  129.          This option ensures a tear-free and stable framerate, but may
  130.          decrease overall performance on older graphics cards.
  131.  
  132.     ANISOTROPIC TEXTURE FILTERING
  133.  
  134.          If your graphics card supports ANISOTROPIC TEXTURES, enabling this
  135.          options will make the game look sharper.
  136.  
  137.     FULL 32 BIT COLOR
  138.  
  139.          In FULLSCREEN mode, the FULL 32 BIT COLOR option provides rich and
  140.          vivid colors. In WINDOWED MODE, the game uses the colour mode of
  141.          your Windows desktop. For certain graphic cards, enabling 32 BIT
  142.          COLOR may be required in order for shadows to display correctly.

  145.     TROUBLESHOOTING
  146.  
  147.         ò Always, always, always ensure that you have a minimum of programs
  148.           running in the background. We recommend you shut down all other 
  149.           applications before running the game (in particular, chat, 
  150.           messenger, and e-mail software may cause problems).
  151.  
  152.         ò You may also need to disable anti-virus, anti-spyware, and firewall
  153.           software (some of these could prevent the game from starting).
  154.  
  155.         ò Many technical problems can be solved simply by updating your
  156.           graphics and sound card drivers (drivers are usually available
  157.           from your hardware manufacturerÆs website).
