  33. N.B. The default extension for Chimp! files has been changed to ".chp" 
  34. to avoid clashing with Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.  To convert your 
  35. files to the new extension, simply run Chimp!, choose "Open" from the 
  36. "File" menu and select the file to change.  Chimp! will then offer to 
  37. rename the file for you, and then open it.

  39. ABOUT CHIMP!
  40.  
  41. Chimp! provides a convenient place for keeping to-do lists, reminders and
  42. miscellaneous information. Chimp!'s interface is based on the model of
  43. a tabbed notebook - each file is divided up into a set of topics, each
  44. of which is displayed as a tabbed page. By using this model, Chimp!
  45. allows a large amount of information to be held and coveniently accessed
  46. without the screen clutter associated with programs based on the "sticky
  47. note" metaphor.

  49. In order to provide easy access to stored information, Chimp! can add
  50. one or more icons to the Windows95 System Tray. When Chimp!'s window is
  51. closed, the icon remains in the system tray. Double-clicking this icon
  52. immediately restores the window, including the currently selected topic,
  53. cursor position etc.

  55. Chimp! does not require any action to ensure that any notes are saved -
  56. Chimp! auto-saves whenever necessary. This allows you to treat Chimp!
  57. just like a paper-based notepad: whenever a note has been edited, the
  58. software takes charge of making sure that the modifications are saved,
  59. you do not have to remember.

  61. Chimp! provides a comprehensive set of editing features, printing
  62. support and customisation options such as colours and fonts.  It also 
  63. allows files and URLs to be launched directly from Chimp! simply by 
  64. selecting the text corresponding to the path/URL and right clicking.

  66. Chimp! is shareware. If you use this program for more than the
  67. evaluation period of 90 days you are required to register it.

  75. INSTALLING Chimp!

  77. 1. Put the floppy disk in the appropriate drive
  78. 2. Select "Run" from the Start Menu
  79. 3. Enter "A:\Chimp110a.exe" (assuming your floppy 
  80.    disk drive is A: - if not, replace the 'A' 
  81.    with the letter corresponding to your floppy 
  82.    drive) 
  83. 4. Follow the on-screen instructions

  85. UNINSTALLING Chimp!

  87. 1. To remove Chimp! from your system choose 
  88.    Settings | Control Panel from the Start Menu,
  89. 2. Choose Add/Remove programs in the resulting 
  90.    folder.
