  33. 1. WHAT IS CATRAXX?

  36. CATraxx is a powerful 32-bit Windows application designed 
  37. to help you catalog and manage your music collection. CATraxx
  38. allows you to keep track of just about every aspect of your 
  39. collection, and gives you all the power and flexibility that 
  40. you will ever need. Using CATraxx you can quickly catalog CDs 
  41. by downloading disc data from the Internet CDDB database. 
  42. CATraxx is easy-to-use for the amateur, with sophisticated
  43. features for the professional. We believe that CATraxx is the 
  44. ultimate in music database management!

  46. CATraxx has a comprehensive set of fields for both albums and 
  47. tracks, enabling you to catalog information like artist, album 
  48. title, format (CDs, vinyl records, cassettes, videos etc.), 
  49. release year, label, catalog number, purchase price, current 
  50. value, music category, status (own, want, for sale etc.), 
  51. condition, playing time, song titles, songwriters, producers, 
  52. recording studios, musicians and instruments. You can store 
  53. an image of the album cover and add your own personal comments 
  54. for both albums and tracks.

  56. You can work with an unlimited number of databases. This 
  57. means you can split your collection into different catalogs 
  58. and organize it to meet your needs. CATraxx allows you to 
  59. change the name of all data fields. For example, you might want
  60. to rename Artist to Performer, Songwriter to Composer or Format 
  61. to Media. You can hide the fields you don't want to use. These 
  62. fields will disappear from all windows, menus, lists etc. You 
  63. only use the fields you want. 
  64.  
  65. You can effectively search the database for information that 
  66. you require. Search in all fields with any combination of 
  67. fields and operators. In addition, CATraxx lets you cross 
  68. reference up to five fields. This is an extremely flexible 
  69. way to search and query data.

  71. The report designer lets you create almost any type of report. 
  72. Use one of the pre-defined reports, or create your own from 
  73. scratch. You have full control over data fields, groups, sort 
  74. order, columns, fonts, colors, paper size, margins and print 
  75. orientation. CATraxx lets you preview reports on screen before 
  76. printing. Using CATraxx you can easily create professionally 
  77. looking reports with exactly the layout you want.

  79. With the HTML Generator you can quickly generate documents to 
  80. be published on the World Wide Web. The loan module lets you 
  81. keep track of albums on loan. Check the program periodically 
  82. to see what is still out on loan. You will always know who has 
  83. what and since when.

  85. The statistics function allows you to analyze your collection 
  86. in a variety of ways. CATraxx lets you track both initial 
  87. investment and the value of your collection. Use the backup 
  88. function to make backup copies of your valuable data. With 
  89. the built-in CD controller you can control the playback of 
  90. audio CDs in your CD-ROM player.

  92. CATraxx uses popup menus for quick feature access and 
  93. navigation. CATraxx comes with a sample database to get you 
  94. started and a comprehensive context sensitive on-line help 
  95. system.

  98. 2. FEE FOR DISTRIBUTION OF SHAREWARE VERSION

  101. Disk Vendors, Shareware Distributors and BBS(s) may have 
  102. charged a nominal fee for the distribution of the shareware 
  103. version of CATraxx. This fee does not constitute payment for 
  104. the licensed version of CATraxx, and does not entitle the 
  105. end-user to use the shareware version for longer than the 
  106. 30-day evaluation period.

  109. 3. TO INSTALL CATRAXX

  112. To install CATraxx, follow these steps:
  113.  
  114. From diskette
  115. -------------
  116.  
  117. 1. Insert diskette number 1 into your diskette drive.
  118.  
  119. 2. From the Start menu, choose Run.
  120.  
  121.    You see the Run dialog box.
  122.  
  123. 3. In the Open text box, type the path to the installation 
  124.    program, for example A:\SETUP, and choose OK.
  125.  
  126. 4. Follow the instructions on the screen. When requested, 
  127.    specify the folder where you want to install CATraxx. 
  128.    Unless you specify a different folder, the application 
  129.    will be installed to C:\Program Files\CATraxx32.
  130.  
  131. 5. To start CATraxx, choose Programs / CATraxx 98 from the
  132.    Start menu
  133.  
  134. From hard disk
  135. --------------
  136.  
  137. 1. Ensure that the CATraxx installation files 
  138.    
  139.       SETUP.EXE
  140.       SETUP.2
  141.       SETUP.3
  142.  
  143.    are in the same folder, for example C:\TMP.
  144.  
  145. 2. From the Start menu, choose Run.
  146.  
  147.    You see the Run dialog box.
  148.  
  149. 3. Type the path to the installation program in the Open 
  150.    text box, for example C:\TMP\SETUP, and choose OK.
  151.  
  152.    You can also double click SETUP.EXE from Windows Explorer.
  153.  
  154. 4. Follow the instructions on the screen. When requested, 
  155.    specify the folder where you want to install CATraxx. 
  156.    Unless you specify a different folder, the application 
  157.    will be installed to C:\Program Files\CATraxx32.
  158.  
  159. 5. When the installation is completed, you can delete the 
  160.    files (SETUP.EXE, SETUP.2 and SETUP.3) in the temporary 
  161.    folder.
  162.  
  163. 6. To start CATraxx, choose Programs / CATraxx 98 from the
  164.    Start menu

  170. 1. From the Start button, choose Settings / Control Panel.
  171.  
  172. 2. In Control Panel, double click the Add/Remove Programs icon.

  174. 3. Locate CATraxx 98 in the program list.
  175.  
  176.    Click on it to select it.

  178. 4. Click the Add/Remove button.
