  4. What is Expression and why would you want it?
  5.  
  6. Expression is the first-ever Natural-Media vector drawing program.
  7. ItÆs revolutionary because to create you simply draw a vector 
  8. path and art is automatically applied to that path. Expression 
  9. lets you to draw in a gestural way rather than mechanically. 
  10. Instead of going through the tedious process of editing bezier 
  11. control points to create the desired effect you simply select one 
  12. of the hundreds of built-in stroke styles and begin drawing with 
  13. them.  And with Expression you get all the benefits of a vector-
  14. based draw program - editability, smaller file sizes, faster 
  15. performance and resolution independence.

  18. of Natural-Media technology with the advantages of a vector-based 
  19. drawing application, this is your chance!

  22. What is included in the demo version?
  23.  
  24. Expression Demo is a save disabled version of this award-winning 
  25. application for Windows 95 and NT. It will show you all the 
  26. capabilities but without the ability to save, export, print or copy 
  27. or paste. This version also comes with a reduced set of strokes. 
  28. You can create your own strokes using Expression, but they will 
  29. only be available during your current session and will not be saved.

  51. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:

  53. - 486, Pentium(TM) or Pentium Pro - based 
  54.   computer with math coprocessor
  55. - Windows 95 or NT
  56. - Minimum 12MB RAM (16MB or more recommended)
  57. - Hard disk with 20MB free
  58. - Color display (24-bit recommended)
  59. - Supports most pressure-sensitive tablets

  62. DOWNLOAD FILES:

  64. The Expression demo is available as either a single file or as
  65. 4 split files. For instructions on downloading the split files,
  66. see below.

  68.   exprdemo.exe - This is the Expression installer in a self-
  69.                  extracting archive (6.8MB).
  70.  
  71.   exprdocs.pdf - This is the Expression documentation in Acrobat 
  72.                  PDF format (requires the Adobe Acrobat Reader 
  73.                  from http://www.adobe.com/). The PDF contains 
  74.                  Chapter 1 of the Expression User Guide (1.4MB).
  75.                  The file "exprdocs_full.pdf" contains the 
  76.                  entire User Guide and is 8.2 MB.

  79. INSTALLATION:
  80.  
  81. - Download the file exprdemo.exe into a temporary folder.
  82. - Double-click the file to run the self-extractor. Follow the 
  83.   on-screen instructions to install Expression.
  84. - After the Expression demo has successfully been installed, you 
  85.   may delete the temporary folder.
  86. - For documentation on using Expression, download the file 
  87.   exprdocs.pdf or exprdocs_full.pdf and view it using the 
  88.   Acrobat Reader.

  91. USING THE SPLIT FILES:
  92.  
  93. If you are on a slow line or not in North America, it may be 
  94. easier for you to download the Expression demo as a series
  95. of split files. These are located in the "split" subdirectory
  96. here.

  98.   expdemo1.zip - These are the 4 individual files that make up
  99.    (through)     the Expression installer. They are each
  100.   expdemo4.zip   1.7MB.

  102.   hjsplit.zip  - This is "HJSplit," the freeware utility you 
  103.                  need to join the split files.
  104.  
  105. To use the split files:
  106.  
  107. - Download the 4 expdemo files and the hjsplit file.
  108. - Using any unzip utility (like WinZip), extract all these files
  109.   into a temporary directory. The Expression files will unzip 
  110.   into filenames similar to this: "exprdemo.exe.001"
  111. - Start hjsplit.exe, choose "Join", and click on the filename
  112.   field to select the first file (the one named
  113.   with "001"). Click "Start". The split files will be joined into
  114.   a single file called "exprdemo.exe".
  115. - If you view the file's properties in Windows, the total file 
  116.   size for exprdemo.exe should be 6,837,218 bytes.
  117. - Continue with the installation instructions above.
