Pat McManus version 1.5
December 2, 1992 Shareware!

I. What is March Madness?
March Madness is a powerful program to completely automate the
typical office pool for the NCAA college basketball tournament. (Held in
March annually). The program provides for a convienient way to quickly
enter in each participants form, and then instead of spending that first
hectic Thursday night at the kitchen table with forms spread everywhere,
16 simple button pushes yields the up to the moment rankings for water
cooler conversation the next morning.
II. Does this condone gambling?
No! Don't be silly, pools can be held as gentleman's wagers as
well as for a cash pot, what the participants deem acceptable is up to
them, and the author of this program will not be held accountable.
III. How many can play?
As many as 200 participants, more on request.
IV. How do I get started?
Wait until the pairings come out, and then form your sheet (all
players should use the same sheet), then chose option 1 on the menu.
Enter the names of the 64 teams in a logical order (top to bottom works
well). Then when the sheets start coming back use option 2 to put the
people on record.
V. They're playing! Who's ahead?
Chose option 3 and give the highest round started. If there is
already a winner type its number, if not chose option 3. If you tell it
who won a game, it will never ask you again. After the input March
Madness will give you a display (hardcopy if you prefer) of everyone
with their score (sorted according to their score).
VI. Those points are weird, what's the method?
First Round : 1 pt for every winner
Second Round : 2 pts for every winner
Third Round : 3 pts / winner
Fourth Round : 5 pts / winner
Fifth Round : 10 pts / winner
Sixth Round : 20 pts for the champion
VII. I don't like that point scale, can I change them?
Sure! Just register, and I'll send you a new compiled version with
whatever your favorite scoring scheme is.
VIII. What are the other menu options?
4] Clear entry list. -> this deletes all the 'sheets' that you have
entered, and starts fresh.
5] Wipe out list of inputed results. -> deletes the list of winners
so far, as declared by you.
6] Random form input. -> Types in a form for you randomly. Fun to see
if the participants can do better than blind
luck.
7] Quit this infernal thing! -> exit.
IX. This doesn't look like shareware, is it?
Yep! It's shareware, not crippleware. I just don't believe in
crippling software (or excessive documentation.) It is fully functioning,
all the features you'd get for registering are here. Then why register?
To make it worth my time and effort to turn this kind of thing out, but
because I realize that if you had to pay for this many of you could do
without I'm going to be real lenient! If you use it for 2 years (2
times) forget about paying! More than that can drop me $20. Sound more
than fair, I thought so. One thing if you use it for free just let me
know so I can keep track of relative popularity, thanks!
X. Ways to write me!
Please write me! Let me know you're using this! Let me know
about bugs, let me know about <ahem> features! Write me!
